The only robbery was that Makhachev didn’t get the P4P#1 after that performance. Jon only fought once in the last 3 years against Gane who has 0 wrestling. Makhachev defeated Charles, Volk, Volk all of which were opponents in top 3 P4P at the time… crazy that he’s not #1

There should be no excuse of "12 day volk". He underestimated Mackachev and obviously had in his mind that the matchup would be similar to the first where there were a lot of exchanges. Mackachev showed the most improvement from the first fight and executed in his second fight.

Not taking anything away from Mackachev that was an awesome performance and he’s an awesome champion who is continually improving his game but… that was 12 days Volk. Again it’s nothing away from Mackachev he won the first fight after all but let’s not pretend that volkonovski wasn’t fighting on short notice and a weight class up. It’s a testament to his mentality but honestly he shouldn’t have taken that fight. There both great champions and I hope volkonovski can bounce back and that this doesn’t mess with his confidence too much.

@@olivier7580 I don’t know he’s a big boy and he doesn’t really diet out of camp could be anywhere from 180 to the high 150s. Hey Rob, to say Volk slowed down after the first clinch exchange 2:30 mins into the fight is crazy talk, and it doesn't do justice to the championship level Volk possesses. And it takes all away from Islam. And let's not forget that Volk wanted this fight and he came very confident into the fight. Volk's reaction, after stuffing Islams take down attempt, was pure confidence. He was thinking: Islam can't take me down and I am the better striker and I will knock him out. And I remember you calling the knock out as well. But now you say the coin flip didn't faver Volk so he lost.

It's unfair to Usman to criticize Khamzat's performance. After all, he was up against Usman, a UFC legend. Khamzat managed to control the fight with Usman in merely two rounds. Regardless of Usman stepping in on short notice or Khamzat injuring his arm in the initial round, Khamzat's dominance over a UFC legend in that first round is undeniable.

Sure, but people acted like Khamzat would walk through anyone and literally the only reason he isn't champ is that he hasn't gotten the fight. Usman is one of the greatest Welterweights ever, but he is no middleweight AND he came into the fight on 12 days notice. I think we can all agree, that Usman would probably have won the fight if it were 5 rounds and if he had the necessary preparation. We just can't keep on pretending like Khamzat is the uncrowned champ. He is a top contender, but not at all on a different level..

Yes, conditioning, more training for specific things, better reaction times, longer time to build up to lightweight, more time to cut weight, and a full camp without coming off having a kid and surgery would let him train far better. Islam won that’s fair, but it was a win with a lot of asterisks, I don’t know why y’all Islam fans can’t see that. It was a good and dominant win for sure, and maybe that would have happened to full camp Volk as well, but we will never know.

I don't agree with Rob's analysis. The issue wasn't Volk's cardio. Coming off the couch or not, you can't tell me that his output wasn't high because he gassed halfway through Rd 1. If it was Rd 3, 4 or 5 then yeah, not having a full camp would be a valid excuse. But getting knocked out in Rd 1 leaves little room for any excuse. You can prepare all you want and still get caught with that. And it's not like Volk never fought Islam before. For Volk's sake I hope he takes a little time off before jumping back in

It is all because of not preparing for the fight, you could tell volk wasn't going for it, he was hesitant and thats not his style, he was hesitant because he didn't prepare for this fight and wasn't feeling it in the octagon, full camp volk is a different guy than what we saw at ufc 294. Everyone who knows volk and is not a hater could see volk wasn't volk in there.
@good2go619
@good2go619 7 ай бұрын
@@dammaguy1286 So, I guess Islam had nothing to do with why Volk was hesitant? Plus it was the beginning of the 1st round, its usually slow as fighters feel each other out and make reads. Plus Islam had Volk on the backfoot and wasn't reacting to Volk's feints. Not only did Islam condition Volk by kicking to his body, he also set up the final head kick by feinting at Volk 3 times that backed Volk up to the cage. Full camp Volk blocks the head kick the same way. It's a flaw in his technique to block that kick that he's always used.

@@good2go619 let me say this, full camp volk is a problem for Islam and the volk we saw at 294 was not the usual volk, you could see it he was hesitant and yes it was because of Islam, volk realised that he shouldn't have taken the short notice fight because he just wasn't ready, his timing and everything was off, he is usually a volume fighter and in this fight he was not, in the first Islam fight he hit Islam at the beginning of the fight and wobbled him and thats the volk we know, taking the fight on short notice was a mistake.

Camps impact more than just conditioning my boy. The ability for Volk to prepare for the striking of Islam could have been very different. With a full camp it could have been a very different outcome. Not to mention the point isn't so much if he had a full camp leading up to THIS fight, but the fact that he would have had a full camp leading up to a different PPV. It's all hypothetical, but it sounds like Islam meat riding to say that the 12 days didn't have an impact

If you cant bring up a 12 day preparation as an excuse, why dont all fighters just fight off two weeks prep then? Oh maybe because preparing for a fight takes several months or hard training. Islam was always winning this fight, but coming into a fight off 12 days notice is 100% a disadvantage.

@@jackmanb9974 one could say the same about "Alex meat riders". Let's hold off with the personal attacks for a minute and look at the situation. Volk fought Islam in February this year where he had a full camp to prepare and all that. He then stayed active by defending against Yair while constantly talking about wanting to get the rematch. So it is not like he fought someone totally new. Meanwhile Islam had a full camp but he prepared for a totally different fighter. The only valid excuse would be the cardio if it went beyond 3 Rds but getting finished in Rd 1 happens all the time even with a full camp. Sometimes it works out like with Bisping vs Rockhold, sometimes it doesn't. It's funny how Alex isn't the one making excuses. He knew about all this when he accepted the fight, it's his fans who can't admit defeat.

Getting koed in the 3rd minute of the fight is not like he went to the 3rd and then got tired and couldn't stop takedowns, this is why all the analysts are giving Islam credit while casual fans wanna act like if volk had 8 weeks he wouldnt have gotten koed even tho he was getting head kicked from the first fight , even personalities like mma guru who hate islam and his team actually gave him credit and defended him

@donix5604 this excuse " not showing up " can be made on full camp and short notice. Rob generally is an excuse machine. If you have followed his career you would know. You know after he fought Adesanya the second time, he was proud he didn't get finished 🥴 I like Rob very much. He is my top 3 favourites but never been fan of his mentality

Great episode guys!! I have a question. The new Spider-Man game includes fall damage if the user decides to turn it on, but some people say it breaks the Spider-Man immersion to take this damage. Do you think a real life Spider-Man would take fall damage or would his spider powers get rid of that?

Right... it was 100% Volk's cardio that made him get caught in the standard trap, against shorter opponents, of body body head twice within 4 minutes of the first round. If Volk had better cardio, he would definitely have been thinking more intelligently. (sarcasm)

I think Rob vs Usman would be a great fight, and also smart for Rob’s career trajectory. Coming off a loss to a young contender, you fight a WW-GOAT candidate moving up to MW. It would be a great test for Rob’s wrestling and boxing fundamentals, and a win would put him back into title-contention (in my opinion)

@MasterSpencer2483
@MasterSpencer2483 7 ай бұрын
@@frjcde9392 Well, Usman is an all-time caliber fighter, even if he’s on the back-half of his career and moving up in weight. If he beat Usman, it would also make a fight against Khamzat look very winnable, and Dana clearly thinks Khamzat is title-worthy (even if I don’t)

Rob you have a very unique option to turn yourself into a mythical fighter c'mon. Like Baldanovski or Blond Brunson, Oxygenated DDP. I would fancy a small design makeover. Maybe let the goatee grow a bit more. Leave the middle hair grow. Turn yourself into a Ragnar Lothbrok and become a UFC Mythical Champion! It's perfect

Oi Rob, you were eyeing that Jon Jones fight a few years back at light heavyweight, do you still have any desire to move up to 205? I know there's some new blood at middleweight now and you're still one of the best in the division, but I think light heavyweight presents some great opportunities for you.
