Our Rich Journey - Last month, our stock portfolio earned over $256K . . . but it took a lot of hard work and short-term sacrifices to get us to this point! Christina and I have been financially independent for almost four years. But on our FIRE journey, we focused on saving and investing as much money as we could so that our money could work for us instead of the other way around. This meant cutting back on expenses, avoiding debt, being intentional with our spending, and investing as much money as we could. In other words, it took sacrifice. But, those short-term sacrifices paid off in the long run. I have 35% of my capital invstments in an IRA, 25% in index funds, and the balance spread across other investment accts, in cumulative of over $ 5M. I receive income from my rental properties too. The only thing I assume is that they bought Bitcoin when it may have cost eight cents. "Perhaps individual stocks." Not etf

So happy for ORJ. I have driven a Tesla Model X for nearly seven years. It is the most amazing car i have ever driven. Now that it is paid for i decided to self insure against repairs rather than pay for an extended warranty. Tesla wanted five thousand for two more years and car shield wanted $300.00 per month. Rather than pay them $300 per month i decided to save $500 per month toward my repair when it occurred. The first year without coverage I did not have any repairs. The second year i had a $500 repair. I was not surprised by this at all because Tesla has removed nearly all moving parts. There is no engine, no transmission, no timing chains, no hoses, belts, no radiator, no muffler. This car is simply amazing. So very happy that you are now driving what i consider the perfect car. My son traded in his tesla model X for a model Y. I love driving it. Its perfect in every way. Perfect size. Lots of cargo space, enough range, high tech and drives itself. When you take your foot off the accelerator the car stops so your brakes wont wear out. Have never driven a car for six years without replacing the brakes. Dont think i have driven another car for six years. Another amazing thing. Not a speck of rust after six years of snow, ice and salt in ohio winters. Simply amazing

This video came at a really good time for me. My partner and I are looking to buy our first home and found a dream house that needs updating for $1.1M. This is a bit less than double our net worth. Home prices are down 30% in my area, and this seemed like a great deal for the lot, location and square footage (>2500). However, with interest rates being so high the mortgage payment will severely reduce our ability to save. This video was a good reminder that we're in the building phase still and shouldn't get too far over our skis. If we can get this house for a deal and put in our sweat equity, it could still be a good deal, but we can *also* stay more diversified do the same thing with a cheaper property.
