Show some luv people a thumbs up cost nothing but helps out the Tinman's channel. Nice to hear the theory and logic behind your builds. Then the assembly and run. Always a pleasure tuning in. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙

Doing transfers is seriously 70% of my porting and where I make most of the power, big transfers have their downsides, mainly really peaky but makes a nasty saw up top

Gotta have shorter exhaust duration if you want to use big transfers. Shorter exhaust duration will give you the torque you want.

Use a spacer with a pair of mics to measure thickness then knock the thickness of the spacer off.

Tinman, been all in since buckins homelite!! Ive learned a whole lot from you, so im humbly sharing something ive been using with very healthy results...so i want to share, knife edge those bridges for the wristpin to skirt castings....as well as trying to make some sort of "bowl" out of the inside of the piston?? Has been a really nice addition to my r&r, thank you for what you do/share with us!!

Tinman, can you still buy that Emzone brake parts cleaner in your region? Here (greater Montreal region) it's supposedly 'discontinued' because of environmental reasons.

@@tinmanssaws I too usually buy a case a year but to my surprise as mentioned it's no longer available in my region.

Well this explained exactly why my last 2511t build was not what I was after...too much intake. Thanks fella for the detailed explanation! I'd like to add that I love watching you channel because I have two sets of little ears running around and there are very few channels I can watch without earbuds in.

I'm glad you noticed that as I don't curse on the channel for that reason. A little jb weld in that I take should fix it up.

Have you given much thought to how upper transfer velocity affects perferformance? By enlarging the lowers while leaving the uppers stock you should see and increase in the velocity coming out of the uppers. Hogging out the uppers may improve flow but at a lower velocity. I'm not at all sure how upper port velocity affects performance but higher velocity seems like it should be a good thing. Also, doesn't simply widening and flattening the upper exhoust roof without touching the upper transfers increase the affective blowdown? One more quick question. What are builders going for by using crank stuffers? How does dramatically decreasing case volume affect performance? Love the channel. Keep up the great work. It is very much appreciated.

You hit the nail on the head with the small uppers and large tapered lowers. I'm in the air movement industry and think of 2 strokes like a ductwork system in terms of static pressure. But that being said there's a balance between upper transfer duration vs velocity, sometimes if they aren't open for long enough the saw will suffer..
@FarmlessFarmer-xs1he
@FarmlessFarmer-xs1he 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for talking about the balance of a 2 stroke and explaining how when you build a certain way like with bigger case capacity that you have to offset that in another way and why it works for other people when they do it vice versa. That’s ultimately the learning curve with 2 strokes for those of us who have a fairly strong 4 stroke background. Intake and exhaust duration and timing all factors in still but you just can’t directly play by the 4 stroke rules.

That was the hard part for me as I played mostly with Harleys when I was younger. Cams that I liked always had long duration and made the motor lumpy but super angry on the throttle.
