Making a bandsaw box

This box is made of walnut and ash. This design is called 'Stilts' and is about 10 inches long and 6 inches tall. Thanks for watching!

Very nice box and video quite well done! I actually bought my band saw just to do band saw boxes because I fell in love with the concept. There's no end to the variations on this theme. I have a few on my channel as well. Since buying my saw though, it has become one of my favorite tools for many things beyond the boxes, but I still love making them. how much engineering would it take to do cabinetry this way?

To use this method for something as large as cabinet would take a ton of wood and waste a lot of it too. I would probably for some form of bent lamination to get this type of curve on a larger scale.

Thanks Eric. For my first three videos I used my GoPro Hero+ LCD. Since then I've moved to my Canon Rebel T3i. I might incorporate both in my future videos. We'll see!

What bandsaw blade do you use? Your drawer looks really snug with very little kerf. Great work!

Thanks Spencer! Most of the boxes I make use a 1/4" 6tpi blade from Timberwolf. One of the reasons the drawers have a snug fit is that I enter and exit the cuts in different spots. This removes more material from the box and leads to a snugger fit for the drawer. It's one of the reasons I prefer to make boxes with through cuts.

Thanks Denis. It's an oil finish called danish oil. This one happened to be tinted a golden oak color.
