Saw arrived yesterday kzbin.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and today I cut about 3/4 cord of wood with it. Make sure you get an extension chord that is at least 12 gauge wire, minimum. This is my first electric in about 10 years, and things sure have improved. The self-sharpener works great, and it just kept cutting through some pretty decent logs. Wear your eye protection, and ear protection. Excellent saw.

Add an oiler for the chain. Awesome work, man.
@AliA-jr3iv6 жыл бұрын
very nice job but your left hand is very close to the chain you need to add another cover to the top near by the handel
@maciejnowakprojects6 жыл бұрын
It looks like this on tests, but the handle is on the other side of the case and is not in line with the chain, see 9:30. Of course additional cover is a good idea, safety first

The handle might break from the pressure, the cover is a good idea

Needs a guard for your hand next to the chain, or a chain brake like a traditional chainsaw has, so you don't lose a finger.
@grantdeisig13605 жыл бұрын
I'm gonna guess that this isn't super practical. I mean, I only paid $126 (deal at the time) on amazon for my 14" greenworks 40v chainsaw with a 2ah battery and a charger, and it works excellent. Plus it has an automatic oiler. But in the spirit of fabrication, this is an awesome build. Thank you for taking the time to post this video. I love building stuff myself too, sometimes not just for the cost savings, but for the fun, learning experience, and pride I get knowing I made something myself. 👍👍

Where did you get that attachment you added to the motor shaft that the chain rides in that is connected to the motor?
@JoelGarcia-br8rl Жыл бұрын
Just a note on an otherwise excellent build, better extend the sprocket guard cover to cover your handle bar because if the chain accidentally snaps it will provide extra protection on your hand.

Its awesome! But there is nothing preventing it from flinging the sawblade into the users face if it catches on some wood. A chain break could save your face, or in a bad case, even your life. Caution :)

Nice build, as a professional, I’d suggest removing the bottom of the chain guard, not on the outside, but the part where chips hit. You want them to flow away from your sprocket. And add a screw below the bar mount Incase the chain hops off, because the chain will stretch an bit with heat and the last thing you want is to have it fly into your arm or leg. I don’t mean to pour a bunch of suggestions like I’m better than you or anything like that, I think this is a sick thing to make. I just don’t want you to get hurt really badly.

Actually I find it cool as a concept design to display, but it's a very bad tool if you want to use that. There is no oiler, and manually oiling isn't efficient, there is no chain brake and it looks very lightweight, wich means it has low inertia. Definetely you don't want a kickback from that thing
@CVP-og9pw6 жыл бұрын
@Stefan Rainer that's a nice idea, but we all know a hobbyst would be too lazy to even think of adding that feature lol

Good job man. I'm making something similar at the moment. But when you were showing the testing at the end. You should have played it in real time. That's kinda the whole point to see how long it actually takes. Also to see the cutting ability as well. Ik you did it to make it look faster or whatever your reason may be. But I would have cared how slow or fast. I just wanted to see the real time cutting ability. All N All. Niice work bub. Keep the cool homemade stuff coming. Love it!!!!
