If you are dealing with Tandy Leather, I strongly recommend having a look at the Japanese pricking irons. Not the M series ones, just the "basic" ones. They are MUCH nicer to use!!!

Mike first of all thanks for your comment! 🙏 replying to your comment, look at the japanese prick irons in the store, they have a showcase with different new tools, with an elegant touch, but after watching some videos and some reviews in different media they don't speak very well of them, I think that for the price there are many good brands with good reviews, I'll have to try it next time go to a tandy store. best regards! 🙌🏼

Can you tell us about the leather you're using? Looks quite thick! Also, the dots of white liquid when you burnish the edges, what is that?
@Oldcoyoteleathergoods
@Oldcoyoteleathergoods Жыл бұрын
I use veg taned leather in both, I buy both in tandy leather, the blue one is natural and I paint it myself with fiebings pro dye navy blue, the interior leather is that color, you can also find it in tandy leather like a MONTANA VEG-TAN SIDES, both leather 3-4 oz, the white liquid in the dropper is tokonole, also in the marker only that it is reduced 50/50 with water, I appreciate your comment and see your doubts resolved, I will try to put the links in my description so you can find the products.

Hello brother, thank you for watching our video, I hope they help you learn something, the edge creaser is 1.5mm, it has really worked well for me and it is very cheap, I got it on Amazon for 12 bucks, you can find more expensive ones, but it would be a waste of money , I hope to answer your question, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me, greetings ✌🏼

I saw that you glue the thread ends in rather than burn them. Is that more secure?
@Oldcoyoteleathergoods
@Oldcoyoteleathergoods Жыл бұрын
thanks for commenting on my video brother, regarding your comment, honestly I don't like burning the ends of the thread, I think it doesn't look professional, (personally.) I have seen some videos that burn it, others that hide it like me with glue, I prefer to hide it, my thread is not synthetic, it is hemp thread, the glue I use is water-based and rubber is very very resistant I don't think those threads will come out, at least in about 10 years hehe. I hope to see your doubt resolved bro! best regards. ✌🏼

Not got to that point yet but generally if its polyester you melt it, if its linen you glue. Nothing to do with being more secure as both methods are just tidying up the loose thread. Hope that helps.

DS thanks for answering donald's question, I'm sure I will answer it, my point of view, both seams have a chance to come off, I prefer the hemp thread and I prefer to hide the stitch with glue than to burn it, I think it looks better "professional" (that's my opinion) I hope I have answered your question, best regards to both of you.
@DS-um9hi
@DS-um9hi Жыл бұрын
@@Oldcoyoteleathergoods I must agree that tucking and gluing does look neater, I always (where possible) try to finish my stitching to come out between two layers of leather after back stitching. As you say it all comes down to personal preference, as does a lot in this craft (burnishing is a whole debate to itself 😅). I actually noticed that Donald had asked this question twice and you had responded on his other comment! Anyway I will definitely keep checking out your videos. All the best. 👍 One further point, I love your company name and logo!
@Oldcoyoteleathergoods
@Oldcoyoteleathergoods Жыл бұрын
@@DS-um9hi if I have seen some colleagues who take the stitch in the middle of the two layers, the detail is that I have the habit of burning the edges first because I always use white, beige thread and I do not like to touch it a lot and leave some stains on the thread and throw the finished product in the trash because of some stain on the thread, about the logo I wanted to put something commemorative to my state of Arizona, where I lived is open ranch and it is common to see 🐗, raccoons, etc. and always at night a coyote comes outside the fence with my dogs and I decided to use it for my logo, one day I will take a video of it before it slips away and I will put it in a video, thanks for watching my videos 🙏 my best wishes to you brother, greetings ✌🏼
