Absolutely brilliant, I'm a craftsman with 35 years experience and to make such an excellent end product from just basic tools is the sign of skill & ingenuity. I'm sick of watching videos with professional workshops but it takes far more talent and makes projects for amateur DIYers achievable.

Ok that awl is beautiful under any standards, but having done the work with the bare necessities is a testament to your skills brother. I can remember doing lathe work with a drill, but never achieved anything close to what you did there. It just goes to show that the main ingredient to superior work is the human and not the expensive tools; they only help those of us that are not as talented as you. The overall design of you creation was also over the top...👏👏👍

You can make a small woodworking machine for about 100/150 dollars and that will be a very good one with a pwm powerful DC motor, live tailstock centre, small 50mm chuck and a sliding bed, you will have to make the headstock out of a couple of pieces of aluminium plate and 2 or 3 bearings and some hard work but they are not difficult to make. -Thats how I started. You clearly have the skill as this is a very nice tool you have produced using an old sds bit and a drill holder to fabricate it. Now after a lot of saving I have a top of the range British made Record lathe which is superb. It took me a long time to get there though. You certainly have talent as you have made a very nice tool which I would buy if I saw it in antique shop as it comes across in that style. Well done. Good video. I even have an old Zyliss lathe which I no longer want, its designed to run off a electric drill, I used it to make hundreds of lace bobbins and pens and if you pay postage you are welcome to it. I am in spain. You just need a drill and it works beautifully for small work and it can turn up to about 80 cms long I think, just google zyliss lathe, made in switzerland.
