3 tips for mem leaks 1)Pay attention to who owns what memory, if you allocated it with new, then you probably own it and need to use delete unless you gave it to some object (class or struct usually, always?) who's documentation says they take over ownership (which means they will delete it in the destructor, so read their destructor class if you're not sure). 2) Check with static analysis tools, these can often be run whenever you compile 3) Check what really happens at runtime with a tool like Valgrind. Yes, reading Valgrind output can be pretty complicated, ask someone for help if you're not sure what it means. A little bit of one time leaked memory is often not a problem, particularly not your problem if it comes from a library you're using, some of them do it on purpose for complicated reasons. Definitely fix stuff that is leaked from your program and especially if it is being leaked multiple times (a one time leak is usually not all that big of a deal, it will be cleaned up when the program exits, but a leak in your main game loop will eat everything if the game runs long enough, triggering the out of memory killer eventually, typically).
