This is really lovely! A little tip from someone who used to lay tile for a living: Remember to space your tiles to make sure you have room for your grout to go, otherwise you're just wasting grout.

@ThatOneWeirdGal6 ай бұрын
I really don't understand why she didn't use the same height of tiles either. Not only does that make it difficult to grout, but it makes the board un-aesthetically pleasing, as well as just weird to play on a board with some spots raised (you can't slide your pieces when making moves).

Hi, I’m an artist. Last year when I first read your comment, I wrote what you said on the inside cover of my sketchbook. Actually, I think I wrote it in my notebooks too. You so simply captured exactly what it is that I love about creating art. Today I searched out this video because I wanted to make my own chess set (because after years of saying I’ll learn to play someday, I’ve finally started playing and I love it actually) and I ran into your comment again. It hit me between the eyes, again. And now the words mean so much more than they did a year ago. I’m 19, not in college, and still searching for my calling. Art has always been a passion of mine, and in this search for what I’m supposed to do with my life, I keep running in circles back to art. I have no idea what I want to do with my art, much less how I’m going to make a living from it, but thankfully I have the time and resources to pursue what art is to me. So that’s what I’m going to do, one step at a time. I’m going to pursue what I love, and trust that that’s where I’m supposed to be. So thank you once again for your inspiring words, friend. I will definitely be writing them in my current sketchbook. And maybe my journal too. ♥️

As a person who paints D&D minis, just wanted to say that you could avoid holding the chess pieces while painting them by placing a bit of stick tack on the bottom, and putting it on a wine cork or a bottle cap or jar cover that you can hold instead. Been v helpful to me so maybe somebody here might benefit from it.

Excellent! I love it, I especially love that you made the kings and queens slightly different colors and I love your aesthetic. Just some chess related corrections: as shown in the video the board is set up incorrectly, the light square is supposed to be to near the players right hand, as you show it, it is the dark square is in that place - just rotate the board 90 degrees, also the light queen sits on a light square (correctly shown in your video) and the dark queen sits on a dark square. These may seem like small things but it does change the game dramatically when played like this. I'm sure that someone may have mentioned these before so apologies if I am not the first.
