I bet items like this would sell like hotcakes at flea markets and festivals. Also, a super clever tip about making your own tabs. Very helpful!

Great idea! Here's a little tip with that butcher block finish. Put what you need in a small jar then place that in a bowl of hot water. Just hot from the tap is fine. This will give much better penetration. Cold you can see the solid wax particles, hot it's liquid. Thanks for the video!

Do you have a link for the router bit you used in this video? We just got a CNC and are going to try our first cut soon. :)

Hi! Is there a way to do this if you don’t have the scroll saw?
@MakersWorkshopLLC3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. You can set your CNC Router to cut smaller tabs and just sand them off. Alternatively, ahem you seen the painter's tape and super glue trick? It allows you to tape your material to the build plate and eliminate the need for tabs all together.

Hey Brooke, I followed you video, curious how you deal with the oily residue of the butcher block? Mine feels almost too oily to give to someone. I used Howards as well. Thanks

Thanks so much for following along, and great question. I always apply the butcher's block conditioner pretty generously and let it soak in over night before touching it again. Then I thoroughly wipe the excess off with a bone dry cloth; If it is oily enough that you can feel it with your hands then it is likely oily enough for there to still be some to buff off. Then I let it sit again. It will still feel a bit slick for a couple of days as it finishes setting up. Let me know if this helps.

Great project! How deep did you make the pocket?
@MakersWorkshopLLC3 жыл бұрын
I believe it’s 1/4 inch. Not tremendously deep, but enough that the blocks rest in there nicely

What CNC router do you use?
@MakersWorkshopLLC4 жыл бұрын
This is a Carvey by Inventables. Unfortunately I don’t believe they sell them new anymore, but it’s a great little machine. Though I don’t know how easy it is to find them used, i’d recommend it as a machine

This is an Inventables Carvey CNC Router. Unfortunately I believe that they discontinued this model but it’s a great machine if you can find one second-hand
