Making a Cover Panel For a Water Heater Closet

I needed to make a cover panel for my newly remodeled closet. The old water heater sprung a lean and did a lot of damage. After the remodel was done, I was left with an opening that needed closed. This is my version of a custom cover panel using Baltic Birch as the main panel and door casing cut to fit the panel like a frame. The casing lips over the opening and is held on with Keyhole fixtures.
It's painted to match the closet walls and the molding white to match the other trim. I added hooks so the wife can have a place to hang her "stuff".

This is exactly what I wanted in 2012, when I had my bathroom remodeled. Instead of a panel, they installed an actual heavy door held in place with those ball catches and the knobs on the front have short screws so instead of removing the door from the opening, the knobs pull off! Not sure what to do at this point.

There should be a way to convert it but it's depends on the hardware and eight of the door

Will the door need vents for proper air flow ?

I've been in a few houses where the water heaters were in closets. I had read through the manual and it didn't say it did. The previous one had a cover panel made of sheetrock which was screwed in. They don't have fans, exhaust, or an air intake so it should not require it. This closet I fairly large inside compared to the heater.

The clips are gravity hold,so all I do is use the hooks and lift it off.
