I love the costume being a perfectly molded overlay to the vinyl, turned out super cool! 11:00 is super satisfying. Have always loved customs that use the original as a base and do a lot with the extraneous shapes

Thank you for tuning in man! I have a few more project for the vinyl toy lined up ahead. Custom toys are a big part of my foundation in the niche. It’s so cool to finally do something on my own vinyl toy.

you shouldve folded the sandpaper and used the edge to scratch the paint to make scratch marks, sand it until you can see the gray paint since it can resemble the metal under the paint

The end result looks awesome, thanks for sharing your process. Just a quick heads up, I think you want to remove the acrylic tray when using the wash mode for that wash and cure station. There are magnets in the base which will spin the plastic part in the bottom of the tub to create a vortex. This should result in cleaner parts directly out of the machine requiring less manual cleanup.

@@FrankMontano Happy to be able to help. I have also found that using an attachment for the printer/build plate so you can angle the build plate after printing to let excess resin drip back into the vat is helpful. I usually let it drip for 10-15 minutes and then do a "dirty bath" step where I have a secondary tub that the parts get briefly swirled in before going in the wash cycle. It's a few more steps, but I've found this to be really effective at cleaning parts with minimal manual work. It's also generally been good enough to prevent cure inhibition when I use the parts for platinum cure silicone mold making.

Man looks so good! RE: supports on your models - I usually just let the slicer auto generate for me but i'm really convicted to try to support it myself. I had a character I sculpted and printed and some of the support prob was over the top and tanked a portion of the print.

Thank you Dan! I sometimes do both. The auto setting typically does a decent job but I add more and I like to relocate most of them. Good luck man!!

cool. I usually put the printed parts on hot water to remove the supports without leaving as much support marks. really cool paintjob on this :)

Great tip!! The only issue for me is I don’t have a water kettle or sink in the studio. I definitely should try it!

You can also use a heat gun on low setting. They come off remarkably easy.

Great job, dude! Would you mind sharing a little bit of how you sourced the vynil factory and your experience with it? Whenever I’m planning to create a design like yours I feel discouraged about this specific part. It feels a bit overwhelming.

Thanks!! Check out Alibaba! There are so many verified factories to choose from. You kinda just have to do your research and commit to it! It’s taken me 10+ years to finally produce something and even that was a learning experience. Good luck!

Why so many supports ? I mean it only takes up more resin but still. You shouldn’t need that many. I’ve got a Saturn and a Mighty 8k and I usually auto support with minimal extra supports on corners / edges that didn’t get supported :)
