Today I make a ring using mostly hand tools out of REAL DINOSAUR BONE. The fossil I used is over 150 million years old! The patterns it has look incredible, especially on this simple ring's shape. This would be a great project to try at home if you're looking for a simple ring to get started making rings. I've got links to all the tools you'll need here:
Diamond Hole Saw Set: amzn.to/2tsr7J7
Diamond Dremel Accessories: amzn.to/2BDZdP2
Dinosaur Bone Slab: goo.gl/azfUaC (I'd recommend starting on a cheaper material if you're learning)
Thin CA Glue: goo.gl/qEPo2E

You could always put a nail in the board you lay the ring on to help you sand an even thickness all the way around. Just put the nail back, from the edge, the same thickness you want the ring. It will help stabilize and keep your fingers away from that wheel!

So Patrick, I've been wondering, since you use CA glues to fill voids, seal glow powders, and various other applications, do you advise your rings not be worn by people who use chemical acetate for work or to remove nail polishes? Or do you have some other sealant that you'd use to prevent such unfortunate circumstances?

Before you make any more rings, you need to stabilize the dinosaur fossil. Just like wood, precious stones and fossils benefit greatly from having the stabilizing resin. Especially if you are going to be making a limited series of the rings, and don't want to take a chance on the fossil cracking.
