@@AndyPonting hehe awsome im going to build a manifold for the vr6 like this is there a claculation for the slits?

All I did was calculate the area of the port sizes combined and made sure the combined area of the slots were greater. Couldn't find any info to give me a steer on this at all but thought there was at least some logic to what I've done.
@BEYTEKАй бұрын
@@AndyPonting yeah thats fair logic. i did see one guy say the port area is to be 1.5x he size of the TB, but same same really. cheers my man
@rizin22133 жыл бұрын
Nice job man. Tell you one thing we had a guy design a dual plenum and run flow analysis on it. The most even flow come from the TB being pointed to cover the whole fist plenum opening. So I'm wondering if that bend will favor the first port now.

I'm not able to say at the moment. Similar designs are proven to work so I would hope that this performs similarly, but I've not tested it yet. From an installation point of view, absolutely worth it because I'd have struggled to make a standard manifold work on my rwd application

Great work Andy! On a side note - that Clarke bandsaw in the background - how is it? Recommend? Is it one of the Horizontal / Vertical ones? Cheers!
@AndyPonting3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's a 4.5 X 6" that will run vertically. I picked mine up locally 2nd hand for a decent price. Was a bit knocked about and took some setting up to get it cutting square and consistently but I love it. I was waiting for one of the Aldi bandsaws to come back on sale because they were raved about but really happy to have this now instead.

Why not just build a box and port size on manifold looks bit small..why did u make it like that..maybe tell me your thoughts
@AndyPonting3 ай бұрын
This design should promote even flow to each of the cylinders. Despite the standard ports, this should flow quite well, and if I need more I can always cut off the runners to upgrade in the future.

I haven’t seen this before, what are the characteristics of a dual plenum?
@AndyPonting3 жыл бұрын
The goal is to have more even distribution to each of the cylinders. If you search "dual plenum cfd" in Google it'll give you a good visualisation of what it should hopefully achieve
@snivesz323 жыл бұрын
@@AndyPonting Okay so, small log plenum vs double plenum, the larger plenum wins, I get it. But a double plenum with passageways connecting them vs a normal plenum of EQUAL volume I wouldn’t expect to have an appreciable difference. Do you dyno these different designs?
@AdamMGTF Жыл бұрын
@@snivesz32 they are used by rally and rallycross teams. Also in btcc and basically any Motorsport where they use big boost. Worth looking into. Point is. They work. And they're proven by teams and manufacturers with big budgets. A hobbyist isn't realistically going to be able to afford to back to back Dyno test engines to destruction to prove their design works. But imitating the professionals is a sound bet. It's worth noting as well. The gains aren't as much about outright power as they are reliability. It gives even boost to all 4 cylinders.
