Really like your artist take on basic things (knives n forks etc.). Can you tell me why you tumble, and what's in tumbler?
@FlatwareCreationSS10 ай бұрын
The tumbling helps takeoff any little edges and at the same time it also cleans the piece. In my tumbler I use Dawn dish soap and 5 pounds of stainless steel shot. There are three different shapes of the shot. Often times called jewelers mix.

Steven Ellis I just cut the handles off and that is whatever length the blade is and then I draw a centerline and then take my bandsaw make two or three cuts. And then I make a couple a deep grooves with the diamond bit and then I do the rest are soft cuts with the time in bit.

Stunning work mate, I had to look up John 6:12 as well, very clever. It seems to fit nicely with your recycling ethos. What do you think about the idea of going through the exercise of turning the knife blade end into the feather look; and then trying to roll it up into a ring? Do you think it would be comfortable? Not too wide? I mean, in large part, it depends on the individual knife. Do you think the idea is sound though? I've seen it done with the handles of spoons, I just like the idea of trying it with a knofe blade feather and thought I would ask you.
@FlatwareCreationSS Жыл бұрын
Yeah i have made feather rings. Just make sure to round the cuts. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Nevermind, I read more through your comments and saw that the question has already been answered. This is a very unique solution. I would have never thought to look for something like this. I have a dremel 4000 with a foot pedal and a stand/drill press that work great for me bit were probably 3X the cost of yours. I also have a HyperTough rotary tool as a backup that cost less than $30 and o have to say that these things give dremel a rin for their money at less than a quarter of the cost and they come with more accessories. If anybody is looking for a great affordable rotary tool definitely check out HyperTough. I believe it is sold by Walmart but I got mine online..

Are you trying to cut stainless silverware? If you’re cutting silver plated you can use a Bi-metal cutting blade.
@FlatwareCreationSS2 жыл бұрын
Here’s a search that I did quick on eBay. 14+ TPI (teeth per inch) in Bi metal has worked for me. I did just get a new blade that has more teeth for metal. I just barely push and let the blade do the do the cutting. Also I test the handles with a magnet. I’ve had handles that were magnetic and completely dull my blade.

@FlatwareCreationSS5 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 It looks close but I do have some distance between my fingers and the bit. The biggest thing I have to worry about is the heat. The harder you press to get the deeper groups the harder the piece gets. I’ve only ever slid off onto my finger once and it was just like a little burn not cutting or anything like that. Thank you for watching 😊

To clean up all of the scratches and everything to make it smooth. You could use a wire wheel to takeoff the edges. I’m not certain what came with your flex shaft you could also use a Dremel drum sander really lightly.
