Good vid. About ready to do this in my kitchen from oaks that I cut down behind my house. Had not thought to use a jig, and my router to smooth the top surface. Thanks... way better than using a belt sander on these bandsaw blade cut slabs.

Really nice, I'm doing something similar at the moment but only got one Ikea mount and I want two shelves so got to make my own one of those as well. Looks great, personally I would have taken the back edge back flat and rerouted to fix that tear out, it's not very noticeable, but you KNOW it's there aha.

I think that is a super cool take on a router sled. I`ve not seen one like it before. I think you`re running the wrong side of your circular saw`s base against your guide though. The other side will grant much more stability, be safer and give you a cleaner cut.

Lovely gorgeous shelfs. Why do you flatten it with a router? Wouldn't it be much easier to run it through a planer on both sides?
@MegaRetroRocket
@MegaRetroRocket 5 жыл бұрын
Not everyone has the luxury of having a planer. The router sled method is quite commonly used as a substitute and for larger slabs that wouldn't fit in a planer (eg, a whole coffee table you don't want to slice up and reglue).
