Making a Gladiator Predator | MOC

How often do you think about the Roman Empire?? this predator lived it!!
based on a gladiator 1/6 scale figure and made using apoxie clay on a Neca predator base!
this guy was an exercise is sewing and cutting mainly because I was out of clay and I'm broke but also because I needed to learn how to sow. now that I do, I can finally give the samurai predator pants.

I like to think that this predator was dropped off on Earth for a rite of passage like the other ones after him. He hunted many of Rome's soldiers, but eventually the Emperor caught on and set a trap. They lured the predator to a spot and dropped a net made of heavy spiked chains on him. It took many soldiers' lives just to restrain him. He was meant to be executed, but the Empeor had other plans. He was stripped of his weapons and technology and imprisoned under the Colosseum. From then on, he bacame the best Gladiator in Rome.

Now that’s world building!!! I cut out a part where I talked about not adding a plasma caster and going for a less technologically look and that would totally explain it too! It goes with the whole gladiators being slaves too!! Chefs kiss 🤌🏼

Back story could be as simple as a predator that was injured in a crash landing and captured by soldiers during the Roman Era and forced to fight in the arena... that of course where the main character kinda ties in you would have some under dog slave that turns into the champion of the people fighting there way to the encounter with the Gladiator Predator... they fight... they realize they are both slaves or some crap and in that moment make there escape back to the predators ship where he contacts his tride and like past movies leaves a trophy for his arena warrior opponent turned brother in arms kinda thing... I don't know something like that could worked into a viable story.

Brother you just wrote the perfect synopsis for a predator movie, I especially like the human element, them both being slaves and ultimately helping each other escape would be the perfect pay off!! It baffles me why there haven’t been more predator movies

@ARFed They took it way to far with the Alien vs Predator series with the kid being hunted because he is autistic and they wanted to harvest that "ability" the father getting the Predator armor and tech... it was just to much... I'm glad they are going back to more primitive times. I would like to see a tie-in with the Aztec. The Pyramids would be a great use as they have incorporated them in the past but I think they could really do something with Mixcoatl and work in a really great story 😀 👍

Me and my brother had a thought. You guys know the story of Beowulf? What if Grendel was a Yautja? Not sure how or why, but a Yautja could’ve fought Beowulf, and the battle could’ve inspired the legend.

I DIG THAT!! Predators do really well in "history/mythology" so that could totally work! I'm picturing the scene where Grendel breaks into the banquet hall buts it's a Yautja instead, that would be a killer story!! i haven't thought about Beowulf since highschool AHHAH

@@vatofdread1468 I was thinking that too, I rewatched the movie last night hahaha. it got me thinking, if anything it can be a predator ship, with the "myth" portraying it as a dragon.... but then again that's not the most interesting twist! I'll get back to you if I come up with anything better (maybe an elder predator!??)

As far as Mother Grendel, I can think if two things; a female Yautja driven by vengeance for the death of her mate (not sure how Yautja would do stuff like love or marriage) or a Xenomorph that the Predator had on board it’s ship (assuming it’d be set in the same continuity as AVP). Honestly, I’d rather keep it strictly Predator. Maybe it wouldn’t be a direct retelling of the myth of Beowulf. Let’s say that it did happen. It could’ve been that Beowulf did exist and did battle with a Predator. No doubt the story would’ve been embellished over the years, making the Yautja into Grendel and adding the dragon to the story when really it might’ve been the Yautja ship. Either way, I’d love to see this developed further.

He was a trader too the predictor kind so he had to be executed but he did not let that side so he run and he went to earth 🌍 while getting shot by the enemy and barely escaping from there’s shots and crash land a few miles from the area his clocking device barely works just for a couple of seconds to get into a safe place the guards think he is a challenger to fight the best fighter but they thought wrong killing the guards in the possess so he has to do it because his clocking device gives out and he has to get ready for the fight to begin becoming the best of the best

HAHAHA not dumb at all, I’ve seen people use those small fish nets and wrap it to the joint with a little crazy glue! You can also sculpt it using epoxy but that’s super tedious! I would go for no net, but I know that a signature’s look!! This one is tough! Let me know if you figure any way to do it!

​@@ARFed Let me ask you another question, it's completely different figs but, if e buy a mezco Batman head from eBay, would I get away with putting it on a MCFARLANE, like would it look ok, n the hands too would they look ok, have you seen anyone do it?

@@joelamel8056 sure!! mezco figure tend to run smaller than McFarlane so the body might end up looking bulkier depending on the figure, but honestly I've seen comparisons and head wise they're not too dissimilar, in size! the bodies are where the size really ranges! with McFarlane having taller figures ! look up "McFarlane mezco comparison" on youtube, there's some good videos showing size differences and it should give you a good reference point for your figure! just focus on the head , as long as they look similar in size you should be good to go
