Most impressed with your sensitive attitude to representing social attitudes regarding dress-up costumes. I have been producing outfits for entertainments, Drama events, Stage productions, Pagents, Fancy Dress etc and have occationally come across this problem over the past fifty years. The moral issues and whither or not to overstep the accepted line will never go away. You should bear in mind that there will always be someone who, for their own private reasons, will be offended and you must hold to the conviction that your intention is not to upset anyone. Your own personal preference and concience must be your final guide. Good luck.

i know it has been a year, but is there any chance you’re making a pattern of your dress? it’s the most accurate one i’ve seen and i’ve been looking everywhere! it’s beautiful how you about the book and the show btw. it was my favorite book i read in high school :)

Unfortunately I don’t really know much about pattern making 😔 for this dress I just adapted a blouse pattern I already had and the skirt part is a simple gathered rectangle. I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful! But it’s lovely to hear that we share the same passion for this story ❤️

I still think that handmaid's or Martha's or wife's costume is appropriate as a dress-up option on fun carnival/Halloween/dress-up party. It's a protest uniform, same as black in czarny protest and green in ni una menos.

Best Handmaid costume i've seen out there online! A really great tribute to a really great series, that i personally think deserves more attention. Edit: About the Kyle Jenner party thing, i think that it would have been more fitting of her to dress as a wife, in all blue. Is, after all, what her demographic is represented in the series: woman in a position of power. Not quite, I know, bc Kyle has freedom over her and her body, and is able to become a women of power by herself instead of having to rely on a men. But still, she is a wife, a woman in power. If Gilead was to start existing tomorrow, she would never become a handmaid, but a wife. And any member of her extensive family would become handmaids either, they all live in this place of privilege where this kind of stuff is too far away from them.
