I dont normally comment on KZbin videos, but I thought I'd make an exception just to show my support for a decent, honest bloke, doing something he loves and putting himself out there in pursuit of his goals! I've just finished watching (and subsequently unsubscribed to their channel) a video from over the pond in which the makers were using their "creativity" to build things using CNC machines and such like, whilst being given everything for free from various manufacturers in return for selling their credibility and basically churning out adverts for their sponsors. Keith's videos are honest, achievable and more importantly, he uses actual "creativity" and skill to achieve his results..... nice work fella. Rant. Over.

A nice Theme from Mahogany. Between the lines a lot of helpful tips and tricks. Thanks for sharing. Ebony combined with beech should be nice as well. Then you can make some zebra waved patterns.

As a fellow woodworker I understand what you mean about the MDF edge lol everyone finds it almost sacrilegious but I quite like the way the MDF edge contrasts the solid wood grain , and the way you built it it should last a lifetime . I think it gets a bad reputation because of all the cheap store bought furniture they build out of it but I have quite a few things built from MDF that I made years ago that are still in brilliant shape. Amazing work Keith cant wait for the next installment!

Keith, did you consider putting a bevel on the underside of the table top?, That would have lightened the top up and minimized the amount of MDF showing. Nice table.

I would probably have used a chamfer or round-over router bit to minimize the MDF substrate when viewed from the upper angles, also minimizing the apparent thickness of the top. Nicely done though, really good use of scrap materials to make a classy looking project.

A really nice project, well done. Did you chamfer the edges of the feet to prevent tear out when the table is dragged across the floor? It would have been nice to hide the screw heads with a plug even though they are out of sight IMHO...

Turned out to be a really nice table. I think a shallow champher (like a pannel raising bit) would also have been good on the underside to give the table a slim look and hide the MDF. I dont mean this as a critisims of your work just a point of discussion.

Using mahogany to make a step-stool because it's sturdy/tough is like using Uranium to make dumbbells because it's heavy. Both are nice looking and functional projects though.

I'm on the fence about this table. Positive criticism: I like the design of the table. The herringbone pattern with the round of the top gives great visual appeal. The MDF base for the top works like you said, but it also adds needed contrast. For scrap wood this turned out great. Where I am unsure about this project... Not negative, but hopefully it is constructive: the gaps you left in the herringbone stand out too much and distract from the overall appeal mentioned above. This can be solved through the use of jointer. (Not sure if you have one, haven't been watching your channel long.) Also, I think your miter saw is off a few degrees, that might have added to the gaps. As for the router bits, you can sharpen them if you have good stones that are thin. I do it to mine. I can usually make a cheap bit last longer this way. It eliminates most of the burning you see in the wood.
