My failing, I admit, but I don't share a passion for the mid 20th century style. Having said that, these tables truly evoke that period style superbly. A most definite 'mission accomplished' piece of work with fine craftmanship and a little nod to 'handmade' which brings a nice freshness to the 'overly manufactured' feel of that period. Great work, well done.

p.s. the description on your etsy has a typo I think , [its says "contracting decorative spline joinery"] Is it supposed to be 'contrasting'? - I'm not a grammernazi but the distinction between these two words might be confusing to some customers. All the best m8.

Great video kieth and you make great furniture. Just a little tip with regards to the finish you are using. Do not use it on oak otherwise it will come out with black spots once dried. I learnt this when I made some oak coasters. Hope this helps you from not making the mistake I did 👍

Love the design Keith. I think the legs could do with reinforcements of some sort. Maybe dowels or steel fasteners. You’ve made a lovely piece of art, and if that art can last longer, it’s a good thing. Thumbs up 👍

I think the amount of side grain gluing surface and recessed joint will mean it’s plenty strong enough. Glue is stronger than the wood itself after all. I’d love to test it by standing on them but maybe not !

Loved this build, your editing just keeps getting better and better. There is a calm easy way about you Keith Brown maker of things, we could stand to have a few more of you here on terra firma. I have one request... Could we see your impromptu salvages and street finds of reclaimed materials here on the youtube channel? I think it would add more depth and ultimately increase the quality of content. Plus I can get a tour of England in the process. Just some food for thought. Thanks for another great video!

Awesome project! Only comment is you went through the trouble to make those nice bevel joints but then covered them up with the edge banding. I think the diagonal lines of the bevel is essential to the midcentury look (if that's what you were going for). Otherwise very nice Star Wars tables :-D

I literally have just made 6 of these boxes to go underneath a desk. (Totally stole your idea from your desk build vid). I made the first three and polyurethane them at the end, what a ball ache. So the next three I refinished the inside then do the glue up and sanded the outside edge flush. So much faster and a more superior finish. I masked off the mitre before applying the poly to. I also used dominoes for alignment and strength. Enjoyed the vid mate.
