I’d be really interested in seeing a hidden “drawer” type section of furniture (maybe a coffee table or something) that incorporates suspension. Imagine: put down a mug of coffee, the bottom of the table drops 🤔
@dswaney19754 жыл бұрын
Sounds like something I would make, but the bottom falling out would be accidental (I knew I forgot to glue something)
@raymitchell97364 жыл бұрын
@@dswaney1975 Yeah, that happens to you too? I thought they just packed extra screws in those kits for kicks... And I'd regret making the table top sooo heavy as it is now resting on top of my foot.... "secret drawer"?? how about an anti-intruder security coffee table that fights back?
@pickleproductions57363 жыл бұрын
I don't know how to do anything mechanical, but I think that if you have a scale underneath that sends a signal to electromagnets holding the bottom of the table up, it could work.

Brad thank you for the candid video. Too many makers will not show the mistakes, but by doing so you show that you're human. It reminds me of the puzzle boxes that were sold in Turkey (early '80s) that were jewelry boxes. You had to move 2 or 3 pieces to get to the key and another to get to the lock. Did you consider a magnetic catch imbedded into the charger section?

I got the perfect build for you, because im already in the process of building it. It is a nice book hutch for a bed room. It has two cabinets on the bottom on either side and an open shelf in the middle. Above this is two drawers side by side. The top is 3/4 walnut plywood with edge banding. The book shelf is inset from the two sides 6 inches and 4 inches from the front. The feet run all the way up the corners to meet the top. There are two angled cuts on the feet one is from the inside corners runing to the floor. The other is only along the sides running from the base to where it meets the table top. Great video thanks.👍🤠

That's a beautiful project. I love the contrast between the walnut and the blue epoxy. The locking mechanism is genius, but the whole pull-reverse-push unlock is a little awkward. It also puts the longer pin inside the drawer when in the locked position, so it's likely to catch on or poke hole in some of the drawer's contents at some point. I would have liked it if the center of the R was a push-button release, like the button on your nightstand project. You could have filled the letter with blue epoxy to match what you used on the bottom, or you could still fill it with clear epoxy even now. Or, find some nice bright blue glow in the dark additive for the epoxy fill so the letter lights up in the dark.

I used to get frustrated at my mistakes to the point of redoing the entire project. After watching your channel I've come to realize that mistakes are opportunities to try something different or new. As for ideas, make a liquor cabinet or coffee bar or soda station (whatever you like to drink cabinet). Make a portable 2 person gazebo (to enjoy the outdoors but safe from mosquitoes). Make a wrap around tree bench. Make some small projects anyone can make with beginner tools such as a bird feeder, 6 pack caddy, firefly cage, cutting board or TV tray to name a few. I hope this sparks some ideas for you.
