But if the strategy is to catch market turns don't you then have to hold those trades and follow the newly emerged trend to make money? Ultimately you have to catch a trend to make money so it's all trend-trading.

He specializes in catching the top or bottom of a market while trend traders get in after the trend has started, i.e., you really have to know what you are doing to trade like him.

I agree with you. In the end, we all need trends to make money. A counter-trend trade is also a trend trade, it just depends on the point of view and the duration of the trade.
