That's the natural color of the walnut. There's no stain, just Danish Oil which enhances the color and grain. That's why it's one of my favorite woods to work with! Thanks for watching and commenting - I appreciate it!

Between the dovetail joints, the epoxy, and the box construction of the piece, I'll put a solid bet on this stool never having any loose joint issues. Interesting to me was the optimal angle for breathing considered in the leg configuration. Nice finish, and looks comfortable for sure.

Yes, it's definitely going to stand up to almost anything other than being thrown out of an airplane. One of the recipients is considering adding some padding, but I suggested he just gain 20 pounds. ;) Thanks! Jeff

I would love to buy one of these off of you! Such craftsmanship! Would you sell any of them? If so, how much?
@JeffMarxWoodworking4 жыл бұрын
I didn't originally intend to sell them, but have gotten multiple requests. If you can email me at jeffmarxpa@gmail.com, we can discuss options and pricing. Thanks! Jeff

Awesome 🙏❤️🙏 Have you got a blog post of the build ? I was wondering how to measure and fit it to someones kneeling position.
@JeffMarxWoodworking4 жыл бұрын
I don't have a blog. Apparently most people are comfortable with heights between 6 and 8 inches. This leg design provides for two different heights in the two directions of about 8 inches and just under 7 inches. To fit someone specifically, you could play around with stacks of books making sure to try to replicate the appropriate angle of about 17 degrees. To get the right curves and lengths on the legs, I made plywood templates and adjusted until they worked well. Thank you for watching and the questions!

This is a beautiful bench! Did you use a template to get the 17 degree angle on the legs? Any chance you could share that template? I’d like to attempt to make a couple of these but not sure how to go about achieving that 17 degree angle.
@JeffMarxWoodworking4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I freehand drew the template and went through several iterations until I was happy with it. I made the final with 3/4" ply on the expectation that I might be making more in the future. If you want to email me through KZbin or private message me in Instagram @jeffmarx3, I'd be happy to send you a tracing.

Can I make this without the dovetail joints and just use screws? Will it be strong enough?
@JeffMarxWoodworking4 жыл бұрын
I think you should definitely be able to make it strong enough using screws or other joinery methods. There is very little weight on the bench, so it shouldn't need to be crazy strong. Good luck, I hope you get a good result!

Hi Jeff , do you sell those benches? And if you do how much are they?
@JeffMarxWoodworking3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Greg! If you'd like, you can email me at jeffmarxpa@gmail.com. I have been charging $160 plus shipping ($22 for my last one.) I have one ready to go in walnut like in the video, but could do custom in other species if preferrred. Jeff

Could you use maple wood for this?

Absolutely. I think any hardwood would make for a very nice and sturdy bench. Thanks for watching and for your question!

What are the measurements
@JeffMarxWoodworking2 жыл бұрын
The top is 7 1/2 x 18 inches. The legs can be made to any height, but 7 1/2 on one side and 8 1/2 inches of height should accomodate most people. I have a template of the legs to yield th two heights for anyone interested. Thank you! Jeff
