Very nice. Suggestion- when casting in stone, you may want to do a splash coat of cement- a thinner, water base of stone to get details and avoid bubbles you apply with a brush then put in the rest of stone/cement, but beautiful work- thank you for sharing.

I make molds out of Latex and Fiberglass for mother mold, take a lot of time but lasts for a lot of pours. This looks like a cheaper cost other that the price of the machine, Thanks for a great video. I wish I could add pictures here for you to see my stuff. Take care and thanks.

@@CNCSwede first i need to get myself a lathe and a milling machine. But i am unsure what is wise, because i have to move again, and again after that. So it cannot be to heavy. Epoxy granite is something i am considering, but it could be a bit of a hastle. So maybe i will stick with a HBM 290V lathe and a wide table HBM BF 25 milling machine. Which is still a lot of weight to move at 195kg and 160kg. Plus i am not sure is 38mm spindle boring would be enough for car axles.. and the BF 25 is probably to small to machine an engineblock on it. I havent read enough on epoxygranite to know if i really want it. And i am still lerning books about welding and machining. And some more engenering books after those. So yeah, i really need to know what i want to be able to make on them before i buy. The pots on the other hand, i am going to get books about concrete mold making (ATP books), so i will know about concrete after that. Maybe making the details in the milling machine and just glue and screw them to the wooden molds. Greetings, Jeff

Would it be possible to cnc the design in relief and then make a silicone or latex mould which should last longer when replicating the design? Thanks
@CNCSwede5 жыл бұрын
DMESSER Yeah thats fully possible. But this form will last very long and is probably cheaper. I've only done two casting so far but no signs of wear on the mold yet.

How much are the CNC machines that do this kind of work?
@disposabull3 жыл бұрын
If you go to openbuilds there are plans for machines costing under $1000 that will do this just fine, you can also buy kits in the $1000-$2000 range. If you are only cutting foams & wood you don't need a super expensive super accurate machine that can chomp metal.

I don’t really know. I have tried it twice and it has not shown any wear. But I guess you can paint it with a thin layer of varnish or something and they will last even longer.
