Making a recycled candle from old candles and a drinks carton

candle first timer here... i was looking for an easy way to make nice looking candles with some interest. This is it! Instead of an ice cube tray, i just smashed up some old candles in a ziplock bag with a hammer and set them into glass jars. Yours definitely look better, but mine look pretty decent and I was going for EASY. The real trick here is the square mold. Tried it in a round jar and a square jar. The square allows the cubes (or chunks in my case) to sit nicely against the side of the mold so they're more visible. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this. My boyfriend and I had a great time with your method.

I really like how honest this DIY is and how you have used so many creative ways (the ice cream stick with a hole, the sealing method, choosing the prettier side of the candle etc). One question though: how much time does it estimatedly take for candle wax to "dry" in ice cube "holder" (sorry.. I am not a native speaker, thus funny mistakes)? Also, it seemed like the one you had had its bottom part from strechible fabric... What if I don't have one of those at home? Thanks for sharing. Definitely something to try at home!

Just a question why do you have to use old wax ? Can you use new wax but add crayon to it ?

You don't have to use old wax - it's just a way of using up any old candles you might have. We don't recommend crayons - they will colour the wax, but the candle is unlikely to burn well.
