Recently, I decided that my groundwork could benefit from making a better rope halter and lead rope. I put together this video so you could see that it is not exceptionally difficult to turn a few lengths of the right cord into a highly functional tool. There really is a difference between a high-quality rope halter and an average one. Hopefully, the video might encourage some of you to get offline, head to the workshop, and make something. We were made for more than screentime.

I'm loving your "how to make tack" videos. We lost our tack, but luckily no horses in a stable fire last year, you don't know how helpful all this is!

Im still not convinced there wasn't some witch craft or voodoo magic to create that eye. But there are people who can fold fitted sheets so I guess anything is possible. All joking aside that was an awesome video and I'm definitely going to make some leadropes like that! I am wondering how long was your steel rod you were using for measurements?

haha. I know, it's crazy how it all connects! I think the guy who figured it out had waaay too much time on his hands. As far as the steel, it is actually a little fid I made. It is about 8.5" long, and the biggest thing about it is that it helps you transfer measurements easily. Mine is just some steel rod that I cut and then ground one end to a dull point. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for checking out the channel!

Thanks, Annabelle! Glad you enjoyed it. I got my rope from Columbia Basin Knot. Lots to choose from. If you go through this article, you can find my materials list. Hope this helps! www.unhobbled.com/miscellaneous/making-a-rope-training-halter-and-lead-rope

Hey Sandra, Thanks for your comment. Check the link in the video. I just updated and it should give you most of the measurements that you need. If you still have questions, just let me know. Thanks.

@@jacobguitreau6454 I thought that was the one. Here is a link to a video showing how to tie it that I think is the best one out there. I can't say it will help you understand the knot, but you might be able to get it tied. Then, just comes practice. Good luck. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6XVoGdjZb6iqsk
