i loved this project, my garden is much more visible in the neighborhood and yesterday a neighbor brought me fresh blueberries to thank me for all my work making my outside the fence gardens. It’s so easy to think of these projects for our own enjoyment, or in my case the creative challenge and for the pollinators but it’s so nice to hear that it makes my neighbors happy too!

I have neighbors that come to see my yard on their evening walks and it’s such a great feeling to share the beauty of the garden. I often offer plants to neighbors when they get over-grown in my yard. It’s a great way for them to have a piece of the garden they love and for me to know my babies will be taken care of in their new homes. Community feeling definitely runs deep in my little slice of heaven.

Lucky you and lucky neighbors to have each other! I used to live in a wonderful "Leave it to Beaver" neighborhood where everyone knew and helped each other. Unfortunately those people have all died off and now no one talks to anyone or even knows their names! Lots of people who move in for six months, make trouble and a mess and move out! Sorry to say my current best neighbor is the high privacy fence I put around my entire property! I LOVE to have a neighbor like you!

I just finished digging out all of our Blue Zinger here in central IL. My front garden is dry shade with clay soil. They looked great the first year, then all heck broke loose. In three years it completely overtook a heavily planted garden. After ripping a bunch out a few times a year, and it still spreading out of control, it was clearly time to go. BZ could be a wonderful groundcover for a large area, but definitely not at my house.

I actually planted this carex last spring in a sunny border with only occasional supplemental watering. So far this year I have had to weed it from the rest of the border already twice. At this rate I expect to have to do it in the autumn as well. Luckily a friend of mine was looking for such an active (not to say aggressive) ground cover, so I'll split mine and hope this will slow then down a bit. I don't want to get rid of them completely because they have the perfect height for the front of the border and they have a very beautiful blue colour.

I bought my 1 acre property in Cincinnati OH a few years ago with most of it pretty much original woodland. The previous owner planted lambium and it has completely overwhelmed an enormous portion of the ground and choked out native species like wild poppy and sweet woodruff with its eye to consume it all at the rate it is spreading. How do you know if the variety of lambium you chose wont become an absolute beast?
