The mythical ability of a blacksmith isn't just the ability to create a piece of art. It is the ability to recreate this piece of art down to a tee. And yet... it stays mythical for it always being a one of a kind knife of which none other exists quite like this. Even if built the same way, the pattern is always a new sight to behold. Love it so much, you have no idea how much I'd love owning one of those just to have it on display.

For medical instruments made from Carpenter Custom 630, 17-4 Ph 900 we would flood our heat treat furnace with nitrogen. Tank of gas with a regulator and a piece of copper or SS tube into the chimney. The formal way to do this was a vacuum HT oven, but these things are expensive. We would get the parts out with no scale (brownish/blackish) and if there were sharpened edges, they remained sharp. Love your work, it is fantastic!

What a beautiful knife, you can tell that the time it took you to make this, by looking at the attention to detail and quality of the finish and forging. The talent in this family... it's incredible and everyone who owns a Royer knife, holds a work of art in their possession. What i also love here is the reversed dynamic of a wonderful dad following in his son's footsteps, instead of son following dad's footsteps (nothing wrong with that tho!). And looking beyond that, it's pretty clear to me that this is a loving and tight family who are proud of each other and stand together as one. Congrats to your dad for passing his journeyman test, and i am certain he is well on his way to earn that MS badge too.
