Must be nice to just being able to walk out into your woodshop and make stuff you need. I wish I had the skill and the room to do that.
@Wordsnwood10 жыл бұрын
My first "shop" was a 5x8 corner of the basement and a tablesaw in the garage. You don't need tons of room. And skill comes with practise. Go ahead and build something!

Man, get a circular saw. Can do so much with one of them. Then you just build from there.
@Femmpaws10 жыл бұрын
I don't know where you live but you don't have to have the latest and greatest tools to things like this. Nor do you have to spend a lot of money. I have an old 8 1/2 inch B&D table saw that I picked up at a yard sale for 30 dollars and a 9 inch Skill band saw that I picked off Craigslist for 50 dollars. A few weeks ago I added a small drill press that I got off Craigslist again for 50 dollars. The tools are out there if you look around. As for the Skills well that comes from doing and working with your tools. There are a number of good books out there, for your table saw www.amazon.com/Getting-Most-Out-Your-Table/dp/B000QA8R3Q for your band saw www.amazon.com/Getting-Most-Scroll-Deltacraft-Library/dp/B000M5YMQ6 Just because a book maybe old doesn't mean the info is outdated. Go hit the used book stores and thrift shops... you never know what you may find. Oh and DON'T fear the tools... BUT do show them a healthy respect all the time you are using them.

As one who doesn't work with wood much (mostly metal), how long do glue ups need to dry before you can work them?
@PatEm1010 жыл бұрын
Several hours generally. Either overnight or set it up first thing in the morning then come back to it late afternoon.
@GlassImpressions10 жыл бұрын
It all depends on how much glue there is. This layer, 20-40 min to work with. Cure in a few hours. This layer, 1-3 hours to work with. Cure in 24 hours.

I dunno. Seems like a lot of effort. I would just drill some holes in the bowl, tie a ribbon through it and wear it like a bonnet when it is not harbouring salad. Good for storage and as a bonus you stay dry if it's raining.
