It is really dangerous to do homemade injection molds with rubber bands on soft silicone molds, especially with no gloves on. When you are pressure injecting the mold and lifting the mold at the same time it is an easy opportunity for the mold halves to separate and shoot out 350 degree plastic towards your lap, hands, forearms etc. Anyone who wants to see a picture of my hand after all my skin peeled off like a glove please email me. This video shows some other good concepts like coloring inside the mold and embedding of the jig weight/harness, but I can tell you have never had a serious plastisol burn or you would do a couple things different.

+Eric Ross Hi Eric, you are absolutely right, ever I saw on your channel what happened to you in hand, now to make any lure soft plastic I use gloves security, the rubber bands I had not thought, but use another method to close my molds, thanks for your comments, best regards

Is there a reason you went with injection? I am in the process of cloning a huddleston i made a one piece mold , cast my master witch came out perfect. and am going to make my final two piece mold soon. I am going to mold mine standing up with tooth picks glued to the top of the dorsal fin and top of the paddle tail for vent holes to prevent air pockets.....this is the first thing i have ever molded or cast and i have NEVER worked with plastisol....LOL go big or go home.....what do ya think? any advice from you or anyone would be appreciated

+turtle Hi Turtle, Although I'm not any expert I can give my point of view according to my little experiencie, the mold that you see in the video also includes vent holes, is an excellent decision, when you make a lure with many details it is preferable to use the injection method, this because the pressure exerted by the nozzle helps to fill out every details of the mold, also prevents the formation of bubbles, greetings!!!

Hi Vinfish, the silicone sealant don´t have the same properties as the soft plastic, is less flexible, the action of the lure is not the desired, the hot soft plastic does not adhere to the mould and the silicone yes, etc
