This time, I make a Dining Table and bench out of solid 8/4 White Oak, that looks like it’s been cut down the middle and stitched back together.
T 72”L x 32”W x 29.5”H / B 48" L x 14" W x 18" H.

I watch a lot of table videos on here, that is by far the coolest looking table I've ever seen. Definitely going to try making a bench that's similar.

@@HartzStudio I understand that time can be difficult to find, however the production quality and attention to detail through the woodworking process is brilliant. If you’d consider creating more content, I can see you achieving a great deal within the community.

Those look great! You may want to think a bit more about tangential wood movement on your future builds, the way you've attached yhe table and bench tops is solid, but doesn't allow for much expansion and contraction. When this happens you'll either get bowing/cupping or a crack on the top. It can take a year or ten but eventually it happens. There are a few solutions here, sliding dovetails (NOT glued in all the way) keep the tops flat (ish) and allow for movement. Another option woyld be to leave the holes. Oversized on the base that way the screws and move a bit and dont restrict the tops. Finally you can also make keys that attach to the underside of the top and fit into slots routed out on the base, this is an elegant solution that I really lile and use often. Hooe you don't take this the wrong way, i like your pieces, just wanted to point out some technical solutions to common wood movement problems. All yhe best and keeo uo the cool work 😊

Such a cool video! Love the look of the final piece. I have to ask, what are the name of the things you put into the dogholes to elevate your piece when cutting it? Thanks!

This is great work! Question. Wood movement wise, does it matter if the grain of the bowtie is running the same direction or a different direction as the pieces it’s connecting? 12:10
@HartzStudio
@HartzStudio Ай бұрын
Thanks so much! Its unlikely to be a problem - Also thinking of all of the slabs that have bowties running opposite grain directions. That said these are def great things to ask ourselves during the design process.
