Kenny, that is an amazing looking case. You need to make one for the rest of your instruments. The red interior with the black exterior make it look awesome. Very nice my friend.

Most of my instruments already have a case Paul. Mind you, the original ukulele I built years ago, still sits on a shelf. Maybe that one needs a custom, curved wall case to keep it in. That would be a fun build for sure. Thanks for tuning in Paul. I'm glad that you like the case.

Very nice case and of course your attention to detail is evident. Nice to see the JessEm table saw guides in action too. Good tip about offsetting the washers with the rare earth magnets. I'll try and remember that one. My intuition is telling me that three magnets on each cover may be a bit much? Good build. Believe everyone starts projects and puts them on the back burner for a time. I started making pieces for a charity auction in late summer and then asked for year end teachers gifts (pens). Good when one starts in advance of a deadline. Wish it would happen more often.

Glad that you liked the case Dwight. I enjoyed this build and am pretty pleased with the results. I'm glad that you were able to take some things away from this project. While you make never make a ukulele case, there are still little tips and suggestions that could be applied to other projects. Thanks for tuning in and for taking the time to leave your comment. It's appreciated.

That case looks awesome, I was surprised to read in the comments that you flocked the outside cause in the video it kind of looks like tolex. The inside looks incredible, the whole thing looks incredible. Great work as always. Also I understand about the three month gap, still haven’t finished that hand plane, sanding the body was just getting a little old lol. I’m about a month from moving into my new house and I can’t wait to get my shop set up, been on an 8 month break from wood working because of it. Also just ordered the Sawstop. Same saw you have, 3hp 36” can’t wait to get it. I’ll get that plane done in the meantime lol thank you again for the videos, have a good weekend

You are correct Randy that I flocked the interior AND the exterior of the case. It came out great. If flocking is durable enough to endure the beating the interior of a drawer takes, I don't see why it wouldn't take the beating that the outside of a case takes. After all, I'm not dragging this thing behind my truck. It has an instrument in it for crying out loud. LOL. Good luck on getting your plane finished as well as setting up the new shop and of course, your new saw. Looking forward to hearing about the shop and saw when you get everything in order. Thanks for tuning in sir.

Hi Ken, I learned something new from you, I didn't think that you could flock the outside of something because of wear and tear, that you had to use leather or cloth even stain, I knew about insides of boxes and drawers, but never thought it could be done on the outside, Hey old dogs can learn new tricks Thanks Ken

I have the same thoughts about flocking on the outside. Perhaps Kenny can share his experience on the durability.

Flocking is a fairly durable product. It has been used on the exterior of items for as long as it has been in existence. Think about all the plastic toys that you see that have soft, fuzzy surfaces. A lot of them are flocking. Placing flocking on the inside of a drawer puts it under a lot of stress. After all, how often is the drawer opened and closed, causing the contents to slide around and rub against the flocking? Probably a lot more often than you think. After years of the the interior flocking being abused with the contents of the drawer, with things being removed from the drawer and tossed into the drawer, if you empty that drawer, the flocking still looks pristine. Same thing goes for the exterior. It will take it's bruises and bumps just like anything else, but for the most part, it is a fairly durable finish. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show Alan. It's appreciated.

@@carlosgomesribeiro9569 The box is made of wood but had to be re-enforced with plywood. The neck was purchased for this one but I have made my own necks before and if you search for ukulele on my channel, you will see another series where I made a soprano ukulele with no store bought parts. The electronics are fairly inexpensive and there is a link in the description of the video. I hope this helps.
