How does one decide which side of the vacuum-formed product is the side you want to use? I would have thought that the side that contacts the mold is the side you want to use. It seems that's the only side you can guarantee to be the proper dimensions. If I am correct, then you would have needed to make your mold concave, correct? And that means pouring the Alumalite on the other side and thus having a concave mold. But of course that presents its own challenges due to the tall, thin walls between each recess, but that is all part of the challenge, no?

Does this stuff leave a finish good enough for molding clear acrylic and it still have a nice surface on the inside?
@zaknefain1007 жыл бұрын
The finish is only going to be as good as the master you form over.

Hello! I'm loving your videos. I just got a 48 x 48 industrial vacuum former, and I've been CNC routing my blanks out of MDF. I've been looking for a plastic like you used for the mold. Would you mind telling me what it's called? I love how fast it sets. Thanks! :)

does the plastic stick to the mould making it hard to remove the mould?
@TheMrByrom5 жыл бұрын
It is not hard to remove due to plastic sticking, it is hard to remove because it creates a vacuum when removing the part until air can get in.

I'm wanting to do recasts of Jason hockey masks, would the same process work?
@ryanbarker52176 жыл бұрын
late reply, but i imagine that it would be no problem, however you would have to drill out the holes, obviously. for the regular guy's rig you should be able to vac form about anything that doesn't have too much complexity or undercuts in which case you'd want to use a plastic injection machine and that's really only practical for mass-production manufacturing. the jason masks you buy off the shelf will be injection molded. :)

You did a nice job replicating the game part but I'd encourage kids to design their own games rather than reverse engineer (which is often a criminal procedure with Copyright Protected commercial goods) and potentially illegally copy someone else's product. This is a good Demo on how easily you can turn your own design into a Product.
