Time isn't important in woodworking. There's never a need to do something quickly........that's the way we lose fingers. Feel free to ask any question you like at any point in time Chad. I'd be more than happy to help you out if I can.

thats why i watch your vids. religiously,i trust and enjoy your work. im going to build a jig when i have time,maybe you can do a build video on yours,i was hoping you could say you did it my way or its this or that wrong with it. thanks for the reply

I have done it the same way as you many times Chad. The "jig" that I use in this video is nothing more than my shop made resaw fence from my bandsaw and a few clamps. That's it. Nothing special. I do have a video for building a tenon cutting jig though if you are interested in it. You can find it here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jISQd5d5a8SYkLs

looking good kenny,on the tenons i dont have a tenon jig so I've been cutting my tenons using repetitive cuts the same way you made the shoulder cut. i just continue to yhe end. suprisingly its working great. give me your opinion please
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 7 жыл бұрын
Chad, there are many different ways to cut tenons and none of them are wrong. If this method works for you and you are doing it safely then there is no one out there that can tell you that it isn't the correct way to do it. Jigs are fine but they are nothing but a convenience when making repetitive cuts or pieces. Don't discount other methods of woodworking and remember that the ways that I show on my program are only one of many. Good for you for coming up with a way that works for you. That's what makes this hobby so awesome. If one way doesn't work for you, there are several other methods to choose from.

Ken, nice progress again this week om the bin. Your joints came out great. Did you ever think of doweling the bin face frames to complement the dowels on the sides? Just an idea to cause you more work, LOL. I am looking forward to next weeks show. Paul / paulsmessyworkshop
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 7 жыл бұрын
A did think of that Paul. But after careful consideration, I wanted to keep the face frames free of the dowels to give them a cleaner look. There will be dowels involved in the face frame, just not the way you think. Stay tuned for next week's show. Thanks for tuning in sir. Great to hear from you.

Another great video. Looking forward to the next part. I have to ask....what is on the self with your mini bandsaws? Beaver/ Ferret? Neighours cat?

Thanks for the kind words on the show Garry. That little furry guy is my shop mascot. It is actually a mink. A cousin of mine is a taxidermist and he mounted it years ago. The mount has since been lost and damaged and the mink's tail is partially gone, but the mink still survives and in my shop he lives. Doesn't have a name though. Maybe I should name him. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

Nice one Kenny, that looks really good and going by the picture of the complete build, I'm looking forward to part 3. Did you by any chance make a video build for the Jig you used to make the Mortise and Tennons that you made?Speak soon, Barry (ENG)
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Barry. The jig that I used here for the mortise and tenons was a make shift jig that I threw together for this particular project. I do have a video on a simple mortise and tenon jig on the channel though. You can find it here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jISQd5d5a8SYkLs

It looked to me as if the wood dowel backed out before the glue dried. Things don't always appear as they actually are in video.
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 7 жыл бұрын
And in this case, that's not how it went. The dowels stayed in rock solid until the glue dried and then they were cut flush. You are right though that sometime, the camera angles don't tell the true story. Thanks for tuning in to the show this week.

The project turned out fantastic Matt. The finished has yellowed a little over time giving it a nice warm look. You can see the project on my channel's Facebook page. Here's the link to the project picture which I took today. facebook.com/kennyearrings1/photos/a.1706435789575479/2302199153332470/?type=3&theater Thanks for tuning in to the show.
