I made a wizard's tower terrain/diorama piece that I'll be using for Mordheim and as a display board for my Nurgle Diaries army. I used a whole bunch of new techniques in this build, a lot of sculpting, a lot of moulding and casting and I got to try some scale modeling techniques too.

A great backdrop and centerpiece (if you're still looking for one) could be a piece of the old ring-wall standing on the edge of the town, but seen from the inside and both collapsed in places and lifted/pushed up by the deformed city after the comet hit. So parts could be standing on warpstone-riddled cliffs, torn up from the ground, whilst other parts got ripped apart or fell in on themselves. The wall would also (likely) be much older than even the wizard's tower, and would also include several towers of its own. For inspiration, have a look at the wall of the medieval city of Visby in Sweden, the wall is still standing and there are great photos of it from all kinds of angles.

Old Halloween decoration skeleton turned into an either abandoned city or passively occupied city so It gives the impression of occupation and rot at the same time. I think it could be a really large centerpiece where the majority of the "skeleton" of the piece is assembled, and each skeletal structure piece has a different scale of occupation.
@sudonahm6940

I added some thoughts like a river running through the rib cage and a shipyard has been made around the ribs using them as a scaffolding. the skull has lookout posts in the eye sockets and the pelvis is made into this big bowl shaped village that is reminiscent of the Mesa Verde Cliff Dwellings. the ribs have a sort-of transit system that connects the skull to the pelvis.

A cool build idea would be the corpse of an enormous giant with a butcher or dismantling community building ramshackle cranes and shacks bolted the ribs. Most of the body would be underwater to keep the scale large and not have to build the whole thing, plus it can be swampy. That roof-looking-like-a-wizard's-hat has me thinking: a wizard's hat covered in little shingles and with a tiny balcony. When wearing the hat and speaking it's command word you appear as a tiny figure on the hat's balcony. Entering the door leads you to the wizard's tower and the hat just falls on the ground, possibly halfway across the world. Exiting the door on the balcony makes you reappear at the site of the hat. The hat and the roof are always identical in shape and form: if you crumple the hat, the roof crumples. If the twilight sun is shining onto the roof, the hat emits a soft warm glow.
@mikehirst1605
@mikehirst1605 3 жыл бұрын
@@tiagopesce ohhh that's great. Any other wizard-y hat inside the tower will be subject to mockery and ridicule, possibly assault in the form of flying books or acid vials

For the roof shingles, you get a similar effect if you make a strip and don't cut them all the way through, keep the individual shingles of a strip attached to each other near the top edge, you can then overlay them and for the effect you did here you can just shove a few loose shingles in between the strips here and there, it is a bit easier and still looks very interesting.
@Miscast
@Miscast 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah that's what I did for my walking house build and I have template on miscast.co! The Eva foam is especially good for that because it's stretchy you can seperate them by pulling on it gently. The round roof on this project needed a bit more love because of the weird shape it was easier to do single shingles.

Since I started watching you a few months ago. You've heavily influenced how I view my hobby. You seem to attack projects with no fear. And problems appear to almost excite your creativity. Since I started watching you especially the sculpting videos. I have dove head first into milliput and greenstuff tinkering. And it seems like once a week I'm bravely sculpting a display base or diorama piece. And having a blast learning the material and broadening my horizons. 10 years into this hobby. And I can't thank you enough for being the awesome man you are. No fan boying here lol. You attack your projects and the way you paint and everything from sculpting. Is your style. And it's fucking incredible. Keep it up please!

My vote for the rest of the table would be; A) have this tower be a cliffside tower that overlooks the sea. I'd love to see your take on crashing waves and mist. B) have a giant waterfall that goes into the sea. It makes no sense which is kinda why I like it. "Cos magic!" C) have a shipwreck. Cos shipwrecks are cool. Maybe have it at the base of the waterfall, as if it crashed om it's way down. I appreciate that's all kinda mad, but when you said upstaging this awesome build that's where my head went.
