This is more than "all right." It's absolutely fantastic! As for the stone lacking detail, nah, it's just weathered from the storms lashing it down through the ages. i have never played a tabletop version of DND but projects like this make me wish I had. In fact, I haven't played DND since it was first done back when computers ran only a shareware version where every character was simply an X on a black background and dungeon walls were merely brackets. Funny thing about it, though, if I was really immersed in the game, my imagination took over and everything became "real." Love the wizard keeping a watchful eye on your building progress.

Hot glue: good to hold pieces together while another slower glue dries. The formula was changed in the last couple of decades, so directions for old kits might say to use it, but no! A year or two and things will start falling apart (in a nice climate. In some place like coastal Texas with the extreme heat, humidity, and the constant ionization of the air indoors by the AC, you'll see failures even faster. Not sure how elevation affects glues...) Anyway, the tower is awesome

Looks incredible! Did you consider wrapping the pieces in the clay first and gluing on firmly. Then going over it in the stone press? I’m wondering if you lost some of the detail whilst pressing when gluing on.

I'd say that hot glue guns are very climate dependent. if you live somewhere where it gets really hot during the summer, they are not going to work that well as the glue can melt while the piece it was use on is in storage and then break/deform. If you live somewhere where it isn't that warm it can be a quick way to attach things, I know that I have some things that I built with hot glue and they have hold up for years without getting deformed/damaged, but I live in a cold climate and don't leave stuff in areas that I know will get warm (like, not storing them in the attic that heats up a lot during summertime). So I guess, if you live somewhere when it easily becomes warmer than 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) I'd advice against using hot glue guns.
@RealTerrainHobbies
@RealTerrainHobbies 5 жыл бұрын
Well I live in the Parries in Canada, so we get mighty hot in the summer. All my stuff is in my basement which stays cooler, but we get to the 35C range some days. Maybe that was the problem then. A lot of people love it and live by it, so I'm sure I'm going to have to end up trying again at some point and try to fight past my childhood trauma over the thing hehe.

One of the best mage tower builds I have seen so far. The idea that you can mess up the project pretty much at any stage and all goes to waste gave me chills every now and then. Great improvement over the water as well and not many people know this but learning Houdini is pretty hard task plus the renders takes a lot of time as well. So cheers on that achievement as well. I guess you will start mixing your builds with some Houdini effects in the future like the mage summon tornado or so. Anyway looking for it ^^
@RealTerrainHobbies
@RealTerrainHobbies 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lazar! Yeah, Houdini was a big challenge to learn alright. I've actually since not renewed my license as that has to be done yearly, and have switched over to Blender. It does a decent job with particls and has a fairly nice render engine. If I ever felt I needed some nice water effects again or some other really detailed effect like sand, snow, fire, lava etc, I'd definitely switch back to Houdini. 😎 A tornado would be sweet too and could probably be achieved nicely with Blender. Not as detailed as Houdini but still not too bad. :)

@crystalfox8520
@crystalfox8520 3 жыл бұрын
@GAgaV8 actually I have been. I travel a lot. And dont worry I'm not obnoxious about it unlike some others. I've traveled since I was a kid and my parents taught me proper ettiquet when visiting another place. But CLEARLY you dont understand what Americans are like nowadays. You hear about the rarer folks who just so happen to be the loudest. Try actually paying attention to the rest of us and not lumping us in with those crazies?
@crystalfox8520
@crystalfox8520 3 жыл бұрын
@GAgaV8 I didnt explain what I meant very well, and honestly what I said is kinda strange considering what i meant? But I'm well aware in different places its appropriate to do one thing or something else is considered impolite. Eye contact with people you pass, or smiling at someone you pass is one I can think of. I'm not talking about overly loud or peppyness that you see in youtube videos, which is what content creators do. Honestly I dont know how tired I was when I wrote that.
@crystalfox8520
@crystalfox8520 3 жыл бұрын
@GAgaV8 and I'm well aware people dont think like me. I'm all to aware of that because I'm not neurotypical and deal with people trying to assume that I can just function like they do. People have different cultures and their environment heavily shapes their personality.
@crystalfox8520
@crystalfox8520 3 жыл бұрын
@GAgaV8 honestly I think it was bad wording mostly on my part as well as a misinterpretation on my part. I take accountability for that XD. In terms of what I usually watch I usually cant watch a video if it's too mellow, often times itll just fade into background noise for me without realizing it. So I tend to like things with quick pacing so that I can actually focus on it, con of having an annoying brain.

They can fly and teleport so np. The tower usually enhance their power because it is placed on place of power or energy and there they can store artifacts, books, ingredients etc.

@ Heraldic Heraldic That is awesome. There are some really old monks I've seen out in Greece who have more life and energy in them than most 30 yr olds today. Very cool to see.

I always wanted to make a real wizard tower to live in.. but I learned that our totalitarian and rights infringing government already has a history of step in to prevent it. In fact, a man in Califnornia actually finished his Wizard Tower.. The state tried to make him tear it down, saying it was "unsafe".. He just walked away and let them try to tear it down.. They burnt out 2 caterpillar tractors while tearing it down.

That is one heck of a build, well done. You are right about the water, it looks much better with the extra layer on top. Keep up the excellent work matey.

In my opinion the tower is a bit too tall, I get that you were going for the absurdly big wizard tower, but it takes away some balance to the whole composition. Everything elese works very well and I expecially like the wet, smooth stones at the bottom.

This is amazing work. I agree that the wave and water looks more realistic now, though I did really like the previous iteration as well. I love the crooked tower.
