Making a Wooden Stump Lamp for the Garden

Very cool! I have several stumps at our backyard fire pit. I have to cut down a tree this summer, so I think I use a stump to make a garden/fire pit lamp.

How do you dry out a slice of wood? Without cracking?

We have a battery-powered and an electric chainsaw. It is the battery powered that is the most powerful. So I would guess a battery-powered could work as well.
