I have no idea what lamp and socket you used, or how you mounted it, which is what I was interested in.

nice job, i love it! i'm just wondering, though, did you ever consider using fire to make the hole (by creating a small indentation and lighting a fire in it to slowly burn down through the wood)?

Just use a High quality solar light....It works.

Do you have lög-lämp brøther?
@duanesamples17816 жыл бұрын
Hello, you said you would upload part 2 on how to make the garden log lamp if I were to subscribe. I subscribed. It has been months since you uploaded part 1. I can’t find part 2 anywhere. Very disappointing because I found part 1 to be very good, unique, informative, and it will be fun to make. That’s too bad. Unsubscribing.

Did you know that the creator of the original log lamp - award-winning designer Duncan Meerding is legally blind? He both designed the original log lamp and hand makes each one in his workshop in Tasmania, Australia. Duncan has around 5% vision and this lamp represents how he sees the world, light, and nature. So it's actually hilarious that DIY projects (an able-bodied man) can't make it to the same quality - even admitting it is very difficult to execute correctly. It's a shame you copy an original design and not create something new for yourself. check out the original design // kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJCwhXh6q9OJjc0 //

Anne-Maree Sargeant Duncan makes some amazing log lamps! I thought it was such a great idea and wanted to try it myself (DIY) and did it similar to this post..... This way is different the Duncan's as he actually cuts his logs in half with a band saw, cuts out the middle and then glues it back together. If you look closely at his you'll see the grains don't line up. I got know issues with people trying out cool designs for DIY, if they try to sell them then that's an issue.

Don't be a hater. Art is supposed to be shared, I don't think anywhere in the video did he say it was his design or try to say it was the original. In fact this video has amplified Duncan Meerdings work, appreciation by recreation. Let people be and stop policing. Enjoy!

Duncan's log lamp is truly a wonderous piece of work. Using a chainsaw to attempt to create a copy will yield a result that will be rougher. What this video does demonstrate is that it's not as easy to do as you might think. It is very labour intensive and takes considerable time to produce a log lamp. Now try doing it blindfolded. Maybe then you will be able to appreciate Duncan's ability and tenacity to create something that is beautiful to look at without him being able to see it himself.
