I am ditching the upload schedule to upload better and longer content, instead of more frequent shorter content just so you are all aware!! Today I used the rest of the left over plastic and made a DIY Front Splitter and Custom Cabron Fibre canards for the BRZ! I am so in love with the DIYs I have been doing on this car, makes it super personal and aggressive!

Putting the panels on the door would help, but I would recommend you just get garage door insulator/insulation, it will help with the sound and keep it cool in summer and warm in winter and way cheaper than the amount you would pay for enough acoustic panels to cover the door.

@@dfacedxa yeah, for a "test" he/you could just use the box/package of eggs from the supermarket (you know, the ones out of cardboard). I heard from a lot of friends they use them to kill the echo. Sorry if my English is not the best, English is not my native language.

Sound waves bounce off hard flat surfaces, so the more you can disrupt that bouncing the better. I'd suggest putting some foam panels on every wall.

front & rear splitter/diffuser design looks fine 👍 you just need to shorten both abit, it sticks out too much , but that's just my opinion 😊 great work 💯

I agree, they stick out too much, if he shortened them by like 2 inches it would be perfect, but maybe the camera just makes it look like that.... Also it's his car so hey, I can't really judge his style, he likes it 🤷🏽‍♂️

Putting them on each wall in alternating checkerboard patterns will do the most (the pattern being the opposite of the wall across from it). Base traps in the corners would help as well, but your biggest issue is going to be the floor and ceilings. since they are all hard flat surfaces.

If you use the foam to reduce echo you need to put it on every wall echo is just your voice reflecting back from the walls and when you close the garage the sound can bounce off of all of the walls. Most youtubers that only have to talk directly to a mic only need to have the foam on the wall facing where they would be talking but you film all over your garage so having it on all walls makes most sense. When you get the foam try taping it up in different setups and check your footage with the door closed and see what sounds best before you secure it all with the spray glue.

I organised the acoustic panels for our office. Cover the complete ceiling with those things and you should be fine. The reason it does not echo when the door is open is because the sound doesn't bounce of the door and around the garrarege, but can bounce out on to the open space. Do the ceiling first, as this is the largest single area of the room, if you do this first it will have the largest effect. Also note: the harder and smoother the surface is (eg. Concrete) the more echo it will produce. I'm assuming the metal sheets of the door are slightly structured, but the ceiling is most likely completely smooth. Another benifit of doing the ceiling is you will hardly see it and they won't get dirty as fast. Remember you are putting soft fabric on your door, this will look like s**t if you get anything (like dust/paint/oil/dirty water) on it!

I would cover the celing and one strip on all the walls. If that isnt enough you could stick them to your door. You can hang pannels vertical on the roof to catch te sound

robbie just a tip for the future if you put some tape down first then jigsaw over the top that will stop the jigsaw scratching the plastic, just make sure you put the tape down then draw over it after otherwise you will loose your lines

For the echo, make 3x3 frames from wood with some type of backplate(some plywood), get cheap towels, cut to size, and layer until frame is full. Then take a bigger one, wrap around the wood, so it looks “canvasy”, and hang em up in a cool pattern. Works like a charm, Costs sooo much less than buying actual sound dampening panels⚡️

It doesn’t really matter where you put the acoustic panels, they would work on the garage door or walls.
@elirobinson5199
@elirobinson5199 5 жыл бұрын
when it comes to small echo fixes I wouldn’t clump all of them all together sound waves bounce all over the place and ya it will help if you just cover the door but it’s also a good idea to try to scatter them around the garage because you want them to catch as many sound waves as possible all of the wall doesn’t need to be covered just scattered

The leading edge of a front splitter is supposed to have a bit of a upwards angle. But you would actually need a full under tray for it to work like a splitter.
@scottjones2051
@scottjones2051 5 жыл бұрын
Basically the more dense a material is the more it'll echo so if the walls are concrete you will notice much more of an echo compared to timber or gyprock walls because they are less dense and often have some insulation to help with sound.
@functiontek

The panels work by absorbing some sound and then ricocheting the left over sound in another direction, so really the better practice is to have a few of them on every wall rather then all of them on one

Dunno if this is too late to see, the issue is not technically to do with the door, more that there are effectively 4 walls when it is shut. Someone else mentioned somewhere in the comments that the sound will bounce more off the hard walls, that is correct and as such I'd reccommend putting the acoustic panels on the walls and leave the door as it is.

As a sound engineer (im just 16 secs into tue video). I recommend u using glass wool. Follow the instructions as how to make panels just like recording studios (it’s basically making a square with some 2x2 softwoods like pine), fill them with the wool and then wrap it all with fabric. Remember to use protection for your eyes, hands, and a filter to breathe. I apologize if i talk like a caveman, im from southamerica.

It would really help the echoing if you put a cupboards in your corners of your garage. I left a comment explaining why.
@mickelloh257
@mickelloh257 5 жыл бұрын
Just try it out with a random cupboard first to see if it will work but I suspect you're getting sound directed back to you from the corners, because based on the amount of furniture the garage there shouldn't be as much Echoes you talking about. Adding more corners would dampen the sound because it is bouncing off more surfaces but one large corner will cause echoing of the sound cos it will bounce off one surface to another surface and be directed all right back to you. This is probably why it increases when you close the garage door cos you're adding more large corners.

I work with carbon fiber almost everyday, and a quick tip: Your skin absorbes carbon fiber dust, so when you use it, try to cover your skin + don't wash your hands with warm water because if you try to wash of the black carbon fiber dust because it will open your skin pores and itch like crazy, so rince it of with cold water without rubbing until almost everything is off Just saying!
