+Skip6235 Talented? You dismiss decades of dedicated practice and studying music, to just some bullshit concept such as talent? Talent is the excuse of the lazy and undedicated...
@Doomin-c2m6 жыл бұрын
+IIIRattleHeadIII Well, yes and no. Attributing something to talent alone is BS, but some people are clearly more talented than others. I've been playing guitar for over 10 years and know a lot of other musicians, and there are a couple guys I know who just have something extra y'know. Like they just have a bottomless pit of ideas that somehow translate into their music in just seconds. And the same applies to many other things, like painting/drawing, sculpting, sports, maths etc. Some people just have a natural edge over others in some things, be it a more tactical mind in something like football or a knack for calculations. And in music it's important to have a good ear, which some people just don't have. Or in painting/drawing you need a good colour perception etc. Talent does exist, but talent alone doesn't take anyone anywhere without some hard work and learning.
@rattlehead9996 жыл бұрын
+ᛞᛟᛟᛗᛁᚾ Well no... if you are doing something, a skill in which body size is not a factor, for longer periods of time than other and getting worse results, you are just practising and learning less efficiently than them. And the "I've been doing "X" for 10 years" means nothing, how long each day? 1 hour? 2 hours? 12 hours? a day every day without exception, holidays, your family passes away and so on, in the hospital, then I bet you'd get much better results. Dedication mate, dedication. And just sitting playing around is not practice, practice is when you are playing to improve. Now in sports like running and swimming and such sure, where genetics play a big part as your body proportions and your muscle balance are important, but apart from that, nada.
@Doomin-c2m6 жыл бұрын
+IIIRattleHeadIII You're not getting the point at all, I'm not comparing those people to myself. I put that 10 years out there because that's a long ass time and I've met a lot of other musicians in that time. Some people just have a naturally better ear than others, some painters have a naturally better eye than others. And it's especially easy to notice when said people haven't had much training, but you're not going to ever experience that if you just sit around at home writing passive-aggressive youtube comments. (See what I did there? I think you did.) Some people are more creative than others, and there's scientific research spanning decades that backs that up, but I guess someone never studied psychology.

We had 10 hours in studio, two musicians, two guitars, one bass, a whole drumkit with cymbals, cowbells, agogos, woodblocks… Also, a completely unawared sound engineer, a ton of mics, a barrel of coffee, a camera guy, and two friends just for support. Not that we needed all that for the making an album, but once you get locked into a serious studio work, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the vocal lines. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man beyond a mic without any lyrics, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.
