Phenomenal work! The problem solving alone is great, love the use of the plastic frame & Bondo to give the "outline". I've done a similar thing with wood and chipboard/paper :) The sculpture looks amazing, can't wait to see what you do with lights on this.

Thanks very much Chris, hope you're well. Yes it's a nice technique which I can see myself using again. Thin wood might actually be preferable since it won't deform with heat as much as plastic. Yep I'm always impatient for the painting/detailing stage but am getting close ;)

Very interesting project, superb work with excellent results so far. Even from your preview description, I was thinking this is going to be a good one and boy you haven't disappointed in any way. She looks vaguely Ex Machina/ Borg Queen, but stunning in every instance. Avidly looking forward to the next in this series, Brava!

Sholdn't be too long, I'm thinking this might have to be more than two parts simply as it's quite a complicated project.

@@thedarkpower agreed, it looks great. Simple and smooth is harder than clunky and over detailed.

You're based in the UK right? Where do you get the bases for copper tubes? I've not been able to find them in any hardware stores, but I can find the copper pipes and elbows
@thedarkpower5 жыл бұрын
Yes that's right - I make them actually. I solder copper discs from ebay on to couplers. I did a video about it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKPPmqdqjNRoa68

The styrine you use for the initial template, how does it not melt or go soft while baking the sculpy? Or by that point does it not matter because the body filler is taking up the form?
@thedarkpower5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was worried about that (and the hot glue I used!), however the temperature needed to cook the sculpey isn't that high and so it was ok in the end. I think it did go soft but it hardens again as it cools.
