To be fair, it is a normal mode speedrun, and Rutger is much worse in normal mode; him not having the HM bonuses is a small disadvantage, but mainly, he is simply not needed to kill bosses on the easier difficulty.

@@allenkeettikkal3149 I don't know about you, but +30 crit from class, +30 crit from killing edge, and a good crit rate from your stats alone that will probably be around 15 is pretty crazy. Rutger himself is already great, and while Fir isn't, the swordmaster class still puts her in a great spot. Mekkah definitely isn't wrong when declaring them broken in FE 6. Crit rates around 70 to 80% are good chances, sometimes better than hit.

I once had a Treck so blessed he capped everything but res. I started using him because of a couple incredible levels, so he just did very well throughout the play through. Even having to wait for his promotion, he managed to keep up with Zealot and Alan, and eventually Percy.

Fun fact: ... I actually rescued him with Shanna (thany in some awful translations). Granted, I overused her, so she got promoted and managed to have just the right aid stat (15), but still, I managed. The funny part is, I didn't know until way later that pretty much only Shin and Shanna could rescue him, so it was a really lucky run for Gonzales since he's pretty much granted to die after being recruited if you don't have a good strategy or someone that can save him.

My biggest issue with Treck and Noah is the low availability of Knight Crests. In a vacuum, they'd be pretty decent units, and if you wanted to use them, they'd work out fine. But unless Alan and Lance died, you're not going to promote them until chapter 18 (?). So that makes pretty weak compared to not Alan or Lance (whoever promoted early) but weak compared to all your other units that are going to be promoting 5 chapters earlier and all the great pre-promotes you get. They can rescue drop I guess but there's no shortage of mounts that can also do it. Sure, they're not unusable but they're just so handicapped compared to your other options.

46:56 Lot has early game utility over geese , I don’t think either of these units are great but lot joins where there’s few axe users , Marcus is better with an axe but he’s also better than everyone and lot can counter lance enemy’s decently enough . Soldiers in ch 3 have a high enough hit on alance to be a threat but lot deals with them more reliably . Lot also has a higher axe rank than Marcus . Also geese has a better promotion but neither are seeing their way to a promo in an efficient run unless your prepromotimg geese , which Gonzales makes better use of with his hard mode bonuses anyway . Just a minor nitpick with your ranking

You keep mentioning Shin being locked to 2 range but he does get swords on promotion and can promote pretty damn quickly, so range issues are hardly prevalent for him when you get down to it

@@gratedshtick The difference is that Asvel kinda sucks in his starting stats, but he is forced in the next 3 or 4 chapters so that'll give him training. Grafcalibur is good, but he burns through it rather quickly. Dean is good right from the get-go and gets a brave lance with vantage and has is a flier and has 9 move... I normally won't compare a flier to a mage, but I think Dean is a little bit better (in outside maps of course, but he's good inside as well)

I think you overrate Clarine a bit. Staff rank builds so slowly in FE6, her base level is super low, her base magic is atrocious, and only having fire after a (late) promotion blows. Rescue dropping and staff use is good, but it's hard to imagine her being anywhere near as good as Cecilia by the time she joins.

Dayan is _bad._ He joins with bad weaponry in a chapter where he's useless (as a green unit too), and you have to keep him alive for the entire chapter in order to get the gaiden chapter necessary for the good ending. To recruit him, you need Shin or Sue (I can't remember if Roy can pick him up), who will have to be better than Dayan by necessity to have made it this far & be able to survive being deployed. The only thing Dayan has over *Yuno* is his 52 Evade & what little combat expertise he has.

Sue is my favorite design wise But Lance is my favorite gameplay wise mainly because in my experience Allen has accuracy issues with lances and especially axes Milady is also a really good unit but her joining chapter can be a bit tricky when you want to feed her kills outside of the arena

Just because Garret and Bartre are prepromotes does not make them better than Gonzalez. They just require less investment for them to be usable. I value the fact that with a little work, Gonzalez outstrips both aforementioned units in speed and matches them everywhere else. Considering that his speed grants him good avoid against lance users, and the fact that he receives a 30 something percent crit bonus upon promotion makes him a prime candidate for taking on the horde of wyvern enemies that come in the late chapters. My favorite technique with Gonzalez is to set him up in a forest with a few killer axes and watch enemies drop. The main argument against him is that his skill is low, hindering his hit rate. But you can guarantee him +7 to that stat with the secret book and his promotion. So if you're smart in who he faces, and what weapons you give him, he's unstoppable because he will double, and hit hard with over 60 percent chance to crit enemies, killing them instantly. In short, you don't need him to move like a paladin. Just let him pick his ground and tear the Bern army to pieces.

Grant Santos but the point is that his utility is outmatched by units such as Marcus or Bartre. Even if you train Gonzales he will have trouble in later chapters catching up with the high movement units in later chapters and if you really want an axe user it is possible to train a paladin to use possibly up to killer axes which are arguably the only axes you need. Plus Geese can promote earlier and gets the same bonus crit.

@@serpentreed7332 I have successfully used Gonzales once, in Normal Mode. Gonzales needs only one Secret Book in that game to have usable Skill, particularly for when you'll need Axes again. I have tried using Geese before, but I can never get him off the ground, as his stats are too basic in all areas to shine in anything without the +30 crit. Also B-route Gonzales can promote immediately and doesn't ever really face the consequences of having those six fewer level-ups.

Am I really that weird? My tier list ended up being almost completely different from Mekkah's and I also played FE6 plenty of times already. My main unpopular opinion being that Miledy isn't even top 3, easily top 10, almost 5 (6th place), but not near 3. Mainly because, I dunno if I have bad luck, but whenever I train her, she gets really low speed for the level she ends up at, so she gets doubled a lot by anything, even some other wyvern ryders/lords, so she never gets a chance to shine when I'm playing. Sure, she gets pretty good attack speed, but even the one or two times she managed to cap defense or strength, because of her unimpressive speed and low luck, things like swordmasters and berserkers (even some wyvern lords with silver lances) managed to almost kill her, which made her depend on either Clarine or Ellen (because I'm biased and love her too much) to heal her. I guess we're all kinda biased, so I don't blame you. I personally don't like dancers/bards so what do I know, right?? Good video in general though.

Noah can wield his Steel Sword without being slowed down. That's the only advantage it brings, and I think he has the bonus point of Con just so he has the illusion of being good when he joins (whereas Oujay has the illusion of being bad because his Con is so pitifully low compared to his weapons).

Noah is like Lowen in FE7 but Lowen has higher stats growth and he joined at the beginning of the game. But since the advantage of having high CON, you can consider using heavier weapons on Noah like steel weapons or even axes but i prefer using steel sword/lance

Sophia's Con can be remedied using a Body Ring, remedying the rest of her stats until she has a proper base stats is your decision though. People just can't make their problem simple and just sees it as a complicated and impossible case.

Lot > geese. Lot has a huge avail advantage obviously, and by the time geese joins, a lead in at least 2-3 in almost everything. Geeses bases are just so worthless. 9 str, 9 spd at that point? No no no NO. even after promo like you said geese is bad, not to mention how scarce those crests are. If nothing else lot can take low risk high reward shots at lance cavs with halberd in ch 4 and 7, with decent accuracy around 60-65, and he does 2hko most other things. Hes nothing special, but nothing special is better than nothing.

Same here to be honest, he may be the best combat unit in the game on HM from the time he joins. Usually, I place him around #3 below Rutger and Melady because he just dominates enemies throughout the entirety of his recruitment.

Shin is better than Dieck in hard mode, not entirely too controversial. Dieck is fine, but Shin is a monster in combat plus has rescue utility and mobility.

I would argue oujay > fir. 90% of the things you said for oujay apply to her. Shes just as fragile and sure she doubles but right after its all steel axe fighters than anyone including oujay can be double. Her bases are only slightly higher and oujay has better avail and for what its worth growths. Fir is an ok boss killer but her shaky str doesnt help with that and you have better units for that. The biggest selling point though is oujays promo. He gets great promo gains (arugably better than firs) and hand axes. He can easily afford to use use the 2nd or even 3rd hero crest because it uses his growths and he doesnt need his promo really. The point is though that oujay can orko peg after peg on ep fairly reliably without dieing in ilia while fir will not counter and needs a lancereaver to not risk death. I guess fir is better in sacae but lets be real how many ppl go sacae.

Jeremiah peters you’re also ignoring the fact that Oujay has crap con for axes (and e rank too, so he’ll use nothing but iron and hand axes for a while) and Fir gets a whooping 30% crit bonus upon promotion which imo is enough to make her a better unit, and no her avoid isn’t that bad with weapon triangle disadvantage if you support her with Shin and put her in a forest tile. Oujay support pool unfortunately sucks, the only person you’ll manage to use is Lolina and if Lugh is not RNG screwed I doubt that she’s seeing any use, also Fire >>> Wind affinity. And in Hard Mode Fir joins 2 levels lower with 2 more strength, FOUR more speed, and 2 more skill and the Wo Dao (which is better off handing to Rutger but the same can be said about Oujay’s Armorslayer), so training her is not hard at all.

Overrated: Cecilia, Astolfo Underrated: Lilina, Dorothy I had to agree with a lot of things said in this, but since I had quite some experience with this game (one of my fav) I had to say these felt different for me. How does staff utility beat combat units like Igrene and Zeiss who can do a lot in battle, when Cecilia with her bases is nothing more than staff utility and even falling behind in the competition because of her joining time. I actually am surprised how many times got Astolfo upvoted earlier because he's a thief, when keys are not considered. Steals are usually vulnerary, but there are a few good ones in the late game. Dorothy you just called a bad archer, I'm not even sure if you ever user her in long term. Archers have competition, and Nomads are better in this game, but you better be careful how much you use them, you might get the worse Sacae route. Wolt has the worst position between archers, Dorothy get overshadowed by the competition, but she can really become a glass cannon easily. Lilina you clearly have something against because of her starting position. She has great supports, full heal with E staffs when promoted, hits hard and tanks mages. Possibly the best unit to do huge damage against those hard to kill Mamkutes, because they cannot counter. Often compared to Lugh because Lugh has speed and more availability, and I do like Lugh in early game, but he can get screwed in Str. Don't promote Lilina once she reaches Lv10, she clearly have more space to train, but defineately not in her joining chapter. I know it sounds like I'm a Lilina fan, but she was so useful in all my playthroughs so far, hard mode included. Also this is one of the gba fe games, there's always argument about the usefulness of units. For me, Sophia, Juno and Cath was the least useful so far, and I believe Sophia is the only one I would label bad, because she doesn't have utility compared to the other 2.

Lance actually starts doubling quite a bit before lance on average thanks to his higher spd base, and when is their like 1 or 2 point str difference gonna matter, let alone the like 5% def growth difference? Lance slightly edges alan out by just a bit clearly. Both amazing units.

early level ups are key with those two cavaliers, my first game was with a basically unusable lances because his level ups were just so goddamn bad whereas my alan was busted af due to 3 speed level ups in first 4 levels, that's usually how I decide which of the 4 cavaliers you get to use (level up crests are an issue)

@@gratedshtick funnily enough I started using Lilina (in normal mode) because I always like having a mage and lilina's bases were just strictly better than my level 7 or so lugh. In fact Lilina became so easy to have around as a guaranteed kill button with 100% accuracy that I stopped leveling her as much by accident and I'm on chapter 17 with a level 17 lilina and she is still putting in work despite being lowest level in my party (except roy but we don't talk about roy). Is hard mode really that different/harder?

Uh, I rate Raigh and Sophia a little higher because of the sheer amount of anima and dark magic users in the later part of the game. I like Lot because even if his accuracy is terrible, having someone to use the Halberd against the annoying early game cavaliers is pretty great imo.
