One tip for your exhaust headers, if you wrap them in heat insulation it makes a pretty noticeable difference in sound

Your going to get a lot of heat from that muffler and it may cause blistering to that orange paint over time , I have a 58 custom beetle that I lined the inside area with a product from Eastwood that helps as a heat barrier, after 40 years of being around these cars I've seen them over a period of time fade or blister the paint from the exhaust heat when we shove after market headers and mufflers in that area, when it gets to be 85 to 100 degrees outside I'd keep an eye on it

@graemeburnham12082 жыл бұрын
Jeff no matter which way you go to Adelaide, the roads are in a huge mess, and cars with low profile tyres and mag wheels are being damaged every where Those without spares are ending up on tilt trays and are undriveable till tyres can be found and or wheels replaced, so be careful and be aware. A space saver may be very handy. On the Hume last week there were several cars in the one spot all with wheel/ suspension damage, after hitting a hole. Travel safely .

Concerned about road clearance of the silencer (muffler). Also the heat from the silencer may damage the paint on the bumper as it is so close.

OK, I'll be first to say it, how low are those mufflers to the ground? The camera angle makes them look looow. Also the heat from them on the fibreglass. Again camera angle may make it look like it's too close. Good luck with the Classic Adelaide Rally. It's a great event. I went to the early ones when I lived there.

@stevenwest14942 жыл бұрын
I can't help thinking that droning sound from the exhaust might be from the lack of sound deadening. It might be panels vibrating causing that tone. I watched your 911 sound deadening episode and notice how you didn't totally cover the bottom or rear firewall in the Dynamat like product you used for the Alfararri. Oh and I hope you haven't lost as much getting clearance from the low slung exhausts now. Have a great trip and safe journey.
@HomeBuiltByJeff2 жыл бұрын
It is definitely not the sound deadening as I have full MLV and get no road noise. I recently went on a run with a bunch of GT3s and all everyone could hear was my car as it drowned them all out.

@mrcaps1971, a mate and myself did it in mid summer 1967 in his brand new 1967 Cooper 'S', never had the speedo below the 100 mph for miles and miles. The Hay Plain can be brutal, but not many "speed demons" were working that stretch then. Today, nah, don't think we'd last more than a few klm.

@danielprivate74422 жыл бұрын
I've lost count...is this exhaust number three or four? lol Hoping to be "refreshed" after an 800 mile trip in a classic 911 is folly. The best you should hope for is not being completely road fatigued. Harry is a born and bred sportscar. You can't fault him for not being a GT. Have fun on your trip.
@blackbuttecruizr2 жыл бұрын
Great work. Do the mufflers not get hot enough to melt the bumper? I would be worried they would, especially in slow traffic.
@dra9112 жыл бұрын
I hope it works out for you (in terms of noise) - but they sure do seem to stick out like a set of you-know-what, even from that high camera angle. I wonder if a coat of black paint on the body of the mufflers could help conceal them a little? Just an opinion of course, like everyone else. Carry on! 🙂
@eslai2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's my only concern as well--they seem to be very visible, and the tips look rather long since they're so visible from the top. It just looks like the whole thing should be stuffed up by like two or three inches, but I do realize that there's no room. It's strange, because I know they're as close to the bumper as possible, but because the bumper curves inwards, the tips looks especially visible when seen from standing height I guess.
@kerryclark19262 жыл бұрын
Two thoughts. 1. Will the mufflers heat up and damage the rear bumper? 2. Can you paint the mufflers with a high heat black? Or do you want them gray? Harry looks cool every time I see him.

A couple of ways you can tell sure you are getting older. Though you are also more intelligent. You get excited when you purchase a new washer/dryer. You decide to spend even more money and you quiet your exhaust and add quiet dampening material despite the weight increase and the resultant three thousandths of a second it cost you.
