I use IG 6006 based on your recommendation and it works like a dream, thank you. Now I've made these melts in the little ramekins and they work beautifully. I dye them different colors and print out cute little labels for the tops and everyone loves them and they come out perfectly. I wish I could post a photo so you could see. Thank you for sharing all your ideas and hard work, it's appreciated more than you know

I’ve been using 6006 for tarts for several years in clamshells and shots. They both do well. I will say that I have had a few crack in the clamshells but not in the shots. I like the fact that after making candles, I can use the leftover wax to make either.

That's exactly what I do too. I always add a little more wax to every batch and pour any leftover into a shot.

I've been making melts with 100% soy, but most of my warmers are from Scentsy and don't get hot enough for a good melt and throw. If I use a mix like this, what is the best type of warmer to melt them in? Do I need more heat or less to melt this mix. Does IGI6oo6 melt at a lower temp than 100% soy?

Hi jeff thanks to you ive switched from 464 to 6006 and i couldnt be happier with how my candles have turned out. The only issue i am having with the 6006 that i didnt have with the 464 is a weak cold throw. Any ideas on how i can get a stronger cold throw?
@StandleyHandcrafted6 жыл бұрын
Are they all like that even after curing? Mine don't have a strong cold throw after I pour but once I add the lids and let them sit for a day or two they're nice and strong.
@Crip2Knyght6 жыл бұрын
Standley Handcrafted no not all of them some of them have a stronger cold throw than others but over all they are all weaker then my 464 candles in terms of cold throw and i cant figure out why
@StandleyHandcrafted6 жыл бұрын
Is it different scents that have stronger cold throws or is it the same scent, some are strong and some are weak? I have definitely noticed different scents having different throws for sure.
@Crip2Knyght6 жыл бұрын
Standley Handcrafted yeah same scent ( Rose ) and the soy candles give off a better cold throw. I wonder if i maybe didnt let the wax cool down enough before adding the fragrance oil to the wax (i added it at around 170-165f and poured at 160) idk, i will say that they do in fact look 1000 times better than my soy candles. I might even stop using tins and start using glass containers now lol

Hey, ive tried over 40 variations to try to get a smooth pop. Im having so much trouble trying to get smooth tops, im using GW464 from NG. Ive used a 45lb case of 4oz testing made hundreds of candles trying to get it perfect but man i cant get it down. I watch flash point, ive watched yield binding, ive tried cold rooms, ive tried hot rooms, done warm rooms. Slow pour, fast pour, warming up the jars, 6different jar sises, different wicks, different warming jar temps, oven, outside, double boiler, melter, 16 different scents, following a 10% yield and mixing below flashpoint (5F) to be specific. is it the wax? Theres no way i have to do weeks of testing to not even get it down. im gonna keepngoing but maybe im missing something key. thanks.

Hey, I'm just now starting my candle business and I started out with 464 Soy wax, but after watching more of your videos I am certain that i want to do a Blend of soy and paraffin (6006 is the name of it right?) Correct me if I'm wrong. Im going to do Candles , Tarts and Wax melts in the Clamshells, is it okay to use the blend (6006) for all 3? Or would it better to use 4625 for Clamshells and 6006 for all the other ones. I see that you said its a little bit softer in the Clamshells so I just need some feedback. Thank you in advance Jeff!🙂
@sonyasimplyskin6 жыл бұрын
How do you test the scent throw for one candle without wasting a lot of product? (6006) Also on a digital scale 10% for that one candle would weigh what? (9oz jar) And 10% for a pound of wax should read what on the scale? (1.5)?? Do you have to wick up on any particular oils? Thank you in advance☺️
@StandleyHandcrafted6 жыл бұрын
I have always made one pound, three candles, for testing. It's just easier that way. 10% for a 9oz candle would probably be 8oz of wax so 10% oil would be 0.08oz oil. 10% oil would be 1.6oz oil on the scale. Some lighter scents I have tried wicking up, like lemons, some lighter florals. Thank you for watching!

@StandleyHandcrafted5 жыл бұрын
Sheryl Hammonds I haven’t used coconut wax yet but I hear it’s very nice.
@khione80444 жыл бұрын
@Sheryl Hammonds Most Coconut Waxes are pre-mixed with Soy Wax to some degree. C-6 is predominantly Soy Wax with a bit of Coconut Wax added in. Coconut 83 is 90% Coconut Wax, with 10% Palm and Soy Wax (it doesn't give how much of the 10% is Palm and Soy). However, there is Coconut 1, which is 100% Coconut Wax. But it is extremely Soft and NEEDS to be added to another Wax to Harden it. If you prefer no Soy at all, this would be the best route to go, and just add Palm Wax or Beeswax to harden it, depending on your preference.

Kevin Jones I only add 4625 to the softer waxes. 25% to 6006 creates a really nice melt with a good snap for clamshells. For straight soy it will harden it up but won’t fix frosting much.

My first pour after 24 hours was still sticking inside my cup, and didn't come out at all like yours. I was careful to calculate my fragrance load by weight not volume. Do you think after a week or 2 of curing, it will perform better popping out? I hate to have to add vybar since the wax already has that in there.... what do you think? Love your videos, VERY informative and it's nice to find another 6006 user. 😊
@StandleyHandcrafted6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and I love the 6006! As far as the sticking, that is definitely normal, 6006 has a nice adhesion and will definitely pop out easier after they sit for a while. I always grab the sides and squeeze all around the sides to loosen or slap it against a counter like I did in the video and they pop right out.
