SWAG - Salt Water Action Gear, I have wanted to make a miniature since way back when I learned how to make them. I finally found a commercially made needle small enough to do it. There is more work and time in these mini-nets then in the full size. It’s a good man-cave artifact.....😎 I’m glad you enjoyed it.

My father in law Charles J. Anderson taught me how to hang cast nets. I loved it! He was a com.ercial fisherman back in The day before the NET BAN. We poured our own lead and made reusable lead. He had four stretches and two lead tables. He taught me the importance of a sharp knife and in return became his best hanger and coffee maker too 😉 We sold mostly bait nets to Whites Tackle in Fort Pierce ,Florida but he had fisherman from the west to east coast of Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana! Thanks for sharing its been about 6 years since I've hung for him and he passed a year ago 😢

Ok buddy, I think I figured out how you done the thimble from sailrite. Thank you for that . The smallest netting needle I can find is 1/4 in. wide. So I'm sure yours is smaller. My mesh gotta be bigger then what you were able to make. How wide is your needle? Would you share where you found it? Help is appreciated.

Nice net - what type of needle is that?
@equipyourselflifeskills5802 Жыл бұрын
I found it after an extensive search on the World Wide Web. I have always wanted one that was very small and I have attempted to make them but to no avail, they would not hold up. It’s actually harder to make that little Net then it is to make a normal 4 footer. I didn’t think I would ever get the feeling back in my fingers. But after a few weeks they were back to normal. It’s a tough net to make. I have made two and don’t have any desire to make any more. It also works like a champ, as normal as any full size net.
@jdpow1780 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely it's not easy, rough on the fingers and eyes. And mine is not as small a mesh as yours .
@michaelcowan74564 жыл бұрын
Can a 10-12 ft net be made using these methods, or is the 6ft cast net as big as you can go effectively with this method? Im sure it would take alot of time to complete a 10-12 ft net but i think it would be worth it. Love the videos I am trying my hand at this. I look forward to more videos from you!
@equipyourselflifeskills58024 жыл бұрын
Michael Cowan yes, you can make any size net with this method. It takes time but if you have the patience, you can make it as large as you want without changing any part of the process. Thanks for watching.

Hi where did you purchase the mesh material and is is one quarter of an inch? Thanks
@equipyourselflifeskills5802 Жыл бұрын
I used a heavy sewing thread made of 100% nylon. I purchased it at Walmart. It took three spools 🧵 to compleat the miniature cast net.

What is the size of the gauge you used? Thanks
@equipyourselflifeskills58022 жыл бұрын
The gauge that I used was a little larger then a normal toothpick. I used a smaller then normal bamboo skewer. It’s the same as making any cast net but it becomes much more difficult due to hand fatigue because of the size of the gauge and needle. Best of luck with this project. Thanks for watching.

Where I live oh yeah hello where I live lots of different vegetables like squash and onion come in huge fishnet bags.. I want to take a bunch of them because they're free obviously and make a cast net but I have no idea how to do it. I tried watching a video I got too complicated for me
@equipyourselflifeskills58025 ай бұрын
@@michaeladamstone2911 it’s not so complicated once you get your head wrapped around the basic principles. If I were to make a cast net from products such as you describe, I would cut the netting in a long taper (pizza style slices) and then sew the panels together. I have other videos that may help you understand what you would need to do. Thanks for watching the vids.
