A friend's horror story about that hole saw is when he was building a two story house and had to drill a large hole to accept the electrical service drop pipe at the edge of the roof near its peak. The person that provided the tool warned him that it had a lot of power and he'd better hold on very tightly or the drill could get away from him. So he got everything all lined up, got braced, got the best grip possible, and squeezed the trigger. The hole saw jammed in the wood and the next thing he knew he was flying in space about 20 feet off the ground before he got swung all the way round the drill and deposited back on the roof! Lee is about 6'4", stocky and muscular. He hasn't held on as tightly from then on. If the drill wants to go somewhere, it can go without him....

I really like your team work. Everyone has had a part in making this hard top. Your attention to detail is outstanding. I don’t believe I’ve seen a better hardtop anywhere. It’s just mind blowing the 🤯 the level of effort that you are going to for this hardtop. To say you are doing an incredible job seems so inadequate to the level of quality being put into this. I don’t know if I’ve asked this before, but what is your background experience that brings you to this level of skill in building this hardtop. Just seeing this installed looks amazing, but it does not do justice to all the hard work, ingenuity, and skill in building and installing this magnificent work of art. You all should be very proud of what you’ve been able to achieve in the middle of a what is essentially just a parking lot. Well done team. 🏆🥇💯 By the way Linh. I’m just a bit disappointed. You missed a couple of thickened epoxy opportunities. 🥃 I had to have a double to make up for it. 😉😂

Just fyi, that shape is referred to as a dovetail as opposed to a biscuit. Biscuits are put in place where it’s cut out sideways, dovetails are from above like you did. Looks great though!
@marceld60613 жыл бұрын
Actually, it is a 'butterfly joint' since it is separate piece from either side it is joining. A dovetail is part of one of the pieces being joined. Think George Nakashima the great table maker. He used them to join 'live-edge' wood slabs to create beautiful works of art. As did Teal here.

picky, picky, picky.... HA HA.
@johnVidBozo3 жыл бұрын
Even pick-e-er they could also be called a dutchman! :)
@marceld60613 жыл бұрын
@@johnVidBozo a 'dutchman' is a PATCH which hides a defect. So called as a "derogatory" name because it is a 'cheap' repair. It is used to usually to hide a knot hole or some other repair when you are going to paint a product. I have used them when repairing antique doors. It is set into a face of a surface. A butterfly on the other hand is structural and joins two pieces together. Joinery is funny that way. There is a name for everything. It depends on the shape and where and how it relates to the surfaces. A hinge 'mortice' like on the edge of a door, for example, is actually called a 'gain'. (3 sides and a bottom)
