Starting with a big old corkboard taken out of an old univesity office, and turning it into two smaller ones for the kids, making the new frames out of bits of the massive old frame.

Matthias could make a video about figuring out the smallest hole mice can fit through and I'd watch it... Nah wait a minute... We did that... And I watched it... Multiple times... Echoing others comments, thank you Matthias for educating us and showing us how to get things done with what we have!

I really like that trick for cutting splines without a jig. That's so much simpler!

Good for big workpieces, but the annoying part is that the spindle needs to be curved

@szurketaltos26935 күн бұрын
I bet the spline doesn't need to be curved really in this case, some extra glue in there should be fine unless it's a major load bearing member?
@tomcraven_4 күн бұрын
@@waterboy8999I’m guessing he meant spline, the blade will make the bottom of the cut curved, so if you want the spline to fully seat, it would need to be curved too. but who am I to question the great Matthias!

I don't know if it was purely a dated style thing, or if someone thought it was structurally necessary, but that old frame just felt _excessively_ thick.

It's very rare that I can give Matthias any pointers but on this one I can! (I'm a professional picture framer) You should get a band clamp, much easier than your method of gluing up and self squaring :) you can make your own with a ratchet strap and a few blocks of wood ... Loved the channel for years dude
