Such a beautiful cute project! For Jimmy Joe, I used to make a toy out of an old sport white sock for my son's dog. Open the sock and stuff it with an empty water bottle and tie the top of the sock real tight against the bottle. My son's dog loved it, the bottle will make a fun sound when they bite on it. We used to buy all the fancy toys but they would be shredded to pieces in few days. This one is a cheap alternative and will end up shredded anyways! :-)

Really enjoyed watching all of the ideas that cropped up for Ceri's great ephemera. :) When cutting out the squares of the photo frames, once you've cut the X, could you fold the triangles back over the frame to make a nice edge inside, and then trim off the leftover pieces that stick out? Hope that makes sense. I chuckled about one of your commenters mentioning that the mug shot was a relative of hers ;) Too funny.

Glad you found out about the phone book not being copyrighted, what about the business that you pointed out in the phone book that was still around? Would that make any difference if they’re still in business? I guess it would be free publicity for them. I love those photo booth frames I searched for them online and can’t find any. I was looking for digital ones and for some reason the only ones I can find are in landscape orientation and I have old pictures of my cousin and our grandmother that I would love to put in those. Mixed media is just using multiple mediums in a project: paint, ink, fabric...all the things in any combination with a minimum of 2 mediums used. That's what I understand it to be anyway. I'm in NO way an expert. I think you should just do what makes you happy because that is a delight to watch! -Darcy

Love what you made, specially that frame thingy which is something I haven’t seen before. Well I did see it when you showed us the mail but you know what I mean 😌 Talking about that frame thingy... the cutting out of the pieces/squares/whatsyacallit... There is a second step to making it easier. First to cut to the corners, then fold over the triangles you created to the back, snip of the pointy bit and glue the rest down on the back. Perfect edges. Hope you understand what I try to explain, maybe someone else has suggested this to you and explained it better, dunno 😁

How do you define journal making with your very altered pages, tags, bands. Or using things like fabric or other such substrates? I see them as total mixed media art making which is exactly one of the reasons I decided to look at this arena a couple of years ago. But in a way, what I do differently on about 90% of the time is I create my own materials for the journals...using my own photography, collage, assemblage, painted/printed paper and so on. I spend a lot of time expanding my art making to create even more original ideas, to use in different ways. But everyone to their own, I just find it interesting that during your May mixed media, you seemed to think it wasn't a good idea to use such paper/etc...
@gayleagostinelli_ct4 жыл бұрын
No material or supply is off the table for May. I just called it Mixed Media May because it was catchy. Just trying to introduce “classic” journal makers to some new ideas. 😁❤️
