Diane YOU add Hygge to my life. So many things you say make me giggle out loud. I have learned so much from you. Travel, clothing, cleaning, cooking, family, self preservation, and especially trying to get my "perfectionism" from holding me back. At first Watching ur cleaning I would think ...you should start here not there . and how do things get clean when not moving every little thing and thoroughly..lol. Your home is proof it works. Beautiful and peaceful. Well like you say everything gets done. Consistancy and not obsessing is key. I'm in my 50's and you really energize me and are helping me to become more confident. Also here in Ohio USA, our weather seems to be similar . Your saying "no bad clothing just inappropriate clothing " Threw out all my excuses for not getting out to walk. . Thx for all.

Thank you, Diane, for being you!💗You never tire of repeating all the reminders. I really appreciate that. The hygge videos are interesting. Diane, you will be the (invisible) 10th dinner guest at our home tmrw night! Because, tx to you, I'm hosting a no-stress, end of summer BBQ party🎉. And what will I be doing tomorrow morning? Running around like a crazy woman trying to hide things under the bed and stuff them in closets in preparation for the company? No, not anymore. I will be outside enjoying the sunny backyard, repainting a piece of furniture ☀️😎🏡. I like to remind myself that the flylady system may focus on housework but the byproduct is *more time for me* to do the things I enjoy. Your beloved granny would be *so proud* of you 🤩☺️

@@eileencarroll6418 Thanks! If only I could adequately describe how far I was from this a few months ago 😱😫🙄🤣. And also - a BBQ party means eating casually outside so less perfectionism is involved 😉. Actually less perfectionism is involved in general now, which means, ironically, more things get done. You will get here!!! Come for dinner tomorrow night!

Diane, I have been enjoying your videos the past few months. I had a brain tumor removed in January 2019 and for the couple years prior to this I was not really with it. With three young boys and a small farm our house was a disaster. Watching your videos and following your advice, I have been able to improve our household immensely! I have been adding hygge to our lives as well as we live in Maine, USA and it starts to get dark and cold here too the cozy candles etc are greatly appreciated. You are very inspiring and I appreciate your efforts so much! Thank you. LAL

I love the electric candles on timers. I bought strings of fairy lights on timers at Xmas last year and put them in my living room. Every evening at about 6 last winter they would twinkle on. Magical. such a little thing brings so much pleasure. Also have some remote control candles---easy peasy. Hygge in Connecticut, USA! Love your videos and enthusiasm for life.

Love the hygee concept. I live in northern Michigan , just north of the 45th parallel. One of the cloudiest states in the Union. Next week, the clocks get changed, so we lose an hour of daylight! I find using a little, portable Blu lite, helps a lot with the 'winter blahs'. it's a little full spectrum light you can just shine on yourself from an angle while you're having morning coffee .For me, sunlight deprivation is a thing. It's just a simple way to wake up the brain on these fall and winter days. Summer is glorious here, fall and spring as well. Winter is more difficult, longer , very cold, with fewer Sunshiny days. Getting outdoors helps. Like snowshoeing. You are crazy brave to jump in the sea every day. I don't know if I could ever do that! Maybe from sauna to snow and back again, we could do.☺️

hi diane, yes those are dahlias and yes they are beautiful. almost every garden has them here in greece and they are simply gorgeous when they bloom. you are so right, once again. the things that fill our soul with joy and serenity are simple, inexpensive, and most, completely free of charge. all we have to do is slow down the pace enough to notice them. i appreciate the fact that you are always reminding us of this. my day always starts off with a cup of coffee and you. as you can see, you are as necessary as coffee! lol!

Just want to tell you thank you for emphasizing the importance of routines. My life has been a bit hectic and I see where they have really kept me going. Also I heard you when you said you didn't want to be morbid, but we never know what a day will bring. This is so true. I need to be grateful for every day. I've also heard you say you choose to be cheery. It's intentional. this I really needed to hear because the days are a little bit difficult as well as hectic. So today I cut a few little roses and put them in a teapot and set it on the table. Et voilà ! Found myself smiling and thankful once again. So, thank YOU!

Your honesty is so refreshing and you have no idea how much that helps at times when we have those 'blah' times. I live in Florida, USA and it was under 80 degrees F this morning so I was able to open a few sliding doors and the front door to change the air. I felt a bit claustrophobic since April/May. Also from FL - near Orlando. So weary of the heat and humidity from this summer. It seemed brutal this year. Diane, your beautiful dahlias remind me of my German grandfather who used to grow them in his assigned garden plot along with a plum tree, carnations, strawberries, rhubarb, onions and lots of other flowers and edibles. I used to love going down to his garden with him to smell the flowers, and weed and care for all his wonderful fruit, veggies and flowers. When I was about six we even found a hedgehog living in his garden and took it upstairs to my grandparent's apartment in a box until my grandmother made us take him back. Your hygge videos evoke fond memories of my childhood in Germany. Thank you!

Hello Diane, am a Puerto Rican born and raised in NYC! I say that because I have been practicing hygge for yrs without realizing it was a cultural thing somewhere. I do believe that taking care of my mind, and spirit is important and my husband and I always try simple and beautiful ways of living our daily life, granted it’s not that easy to do when life gets in the way, but I feel that’s when we need hygge the most. Thank you Diane for your videos. My house hasn't looked this clean in years. I've been doing the Flylady System for a few weeks now. Having spent some weeks reading about the system on flylady.net, your videos inspired me to get off my bahookie. Setting the timer really encourages me! I've been doing some of the baby steps for a while, and have done 2 weekly home blessings so far but this week was my first time to get stuck into a zone. The bathroom looks great. I can still see some jobs I didn't get to the light and the vent or the window but the room is so much cleaner! Even a reluctant cleaner like me can do 15 minutes. Thank you so much for your energetic, motivating videos. I even looked up "bahookie" on lexico.com and was delighted to see it there! From Edel in Ireland

Dear fairy huggly Diane! you are such a lovely presence always....Love the green and the necklace! I did not understand how you can use a timer with the battery operated candles? or are they special candles that have a timer in them? I would love that! I bought on amazon a light that switched on when I pass in certain spaces, so that I do not have to turn on harsh lights in the evenings or at night when I have to go the bathroom in the middle of the night. I love them and it also makes me feel a sort of huggly presence, as if I am not alone. I am really bad about allowing myself any self preservation as you call it :-)

Such great ideas to bring hygge into the home! One thing I'm finally realizing in following the Flylady program is that the reason it doesn't have to be perfect is because each time a clean an area, no matter how little time I put in to it, it's like getting compound interest into a savings account. Everything I do will make the area that much shinier, cleaner, tidier and easier to clean next time. One question: how do you tackle projects which may take longer than expected? For example, yesterday I was finally changing a light bulb in a ceiling fan which required removing the glass covering (two person job replacing it). After replacing the bulb I realized the light was really enhancing the sparkle dust bunnies on the blades, a job my DH does. I, of course, cleaned up what I could but the covering etc... is put away until the weekend when he can get to it. Could you perhaps touch on some jobs which may take longer than expected? Enjoy your unplugged weekend!

Led candles are more dangerous for little kids due to the small batteries. Often the batterie compartment is not screwable.
