I'm a single payroll Flybaby. I swish and swipe Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays. I so my Weekly Home Blessing hour (which takes about 45 minutes) and errands on Saturdays. I try to do my car/purse day on Fridays, however my daughter is a cheerleader so we are at football games most Fridays in the Fall so this gets moved to Sundays sometimes. I keep all the other days the same as the FlyLady system. Your channel inspired me to make these changes. When I first went back to work as a teacher, I always felt anxiety about my home life. Now I wake up, enjoy my morning routines, can relax and have fun with my students at school, come home and jump right into my evening routines. Also, If I skip a day to enjoy a visit to Disneyland or SeaWorld with the kids, the house isn't a disaster. Thank you Diane. On a side note, your videos make me want to move to Denmark!

I recently went on a Cruise and enjoyed having a personal pot of tea each morning along with a lovely cup. When I came home I bought a porcelain tea pot for one, to go along with my fine china cups which were previously stowed away. I have been enjoying having tea this way at least once a day preferably two. What a difference this little ritual has made in my attitude! I think this is an example of self-care.

I also don't like "pampering" (sounds spoiled) or even "self-care" (me, me, me!) but I do like "self-preservation." Makes it sound important, not frivolous. Must be the Celt in us 😉🍀👯♀️

I loved your remark in your previous video about how you use the shining of your sink as a milestone to end work and start relax-time. And not to fret about life happening: a new dirty plates a few minutes later. Things like that tend to annoy me a bit, just like crumbs, sand, cat hairs on a clean floor. But I am learning to let go! It also helps to vacuum / clean not perfectly, but aim for 90% and learn to be proud of that 😃 I really LOVE 😍 how you and Steph communicate through your videos, responding on each others wise words. I follow you both and it feels I am part of your youtube clan 😊 Although I am Dutch, I tell myself in English to get of my bahooki and get going 😂 Thanks for your inspiration

"He's alive another day." Omgggg, you make me laugh so hard, Diane!!!! :-D TOTALLY something I would say! In our neck of the woods it's all about the mule deer; last summer a doe birthed twins right behind our shed! You fret over your red squirrel while I worry about our fawns. (mountain lions here) Thank you, also, for the self-care reminder! SO important!! We are having a lovely couple-- artist friends of ours-- over for dessert and coffee this evening, and I already took my brownies out of the oven, but I will not beat myself up over a less-than-perfect house. Perfectionism is a kill-joy, for sure, and I'm off to my "spa" in my own bathroom-- you inspired me to use our soaking tub with whirlpool jets, which I haven't enjoyed in forever!! :-)))

So funny, the coincidence of your subject matter for today. I sat down to watch on Saturday with a bottle of nail polish I found in my wardrobe and was painting my nails while watching. I havent put nail polish on for years! I got encouraged watching you go through yours a few days ago, knowing I have a bottle or two somehwere. Thank you Diane for reminding us that we need time too. Im a busy homeschooling mum (my ds18 is in his final year of school) and have just in the last few months started working part time outside the home in my daughter's new little gift and homewares shop. I love it but life is now even busier. Have a wonderful time visigting your mum and family.

Good for new people and good for those of us who think we know our way around but who always learn something new, listening to/working with you. Kind of ironic that we have to unplug to recharge. Because of you, Diane, I have hygge on my list of evening routines. Make my evening a little cozy somehow. And I've made a note to myself to open a window or light a candle in the room I'm working in. It's reminding me to put moments of joy in while you work and to enjoy what I've done in the evening. Doesn't take much to upgrade a moment with a little hygge but boy, does it make a difference!

Guilt is such a major thing for me. This week I haven’t been feeling fantastic, so I haven’t exercised and I haven’t done much work. Even though I know fully well that one week away from the gym won’t make a big difference and I work for myself, so a week off won’t make much difference there, either...I still feel guilty about not doing The Things. But making progress with the flylady system makes me feel better.
@mixedmedialife79165 жыл бұрын

I love the term "self-preservation" vs. pampering. Perfect! Also, I am sprucing up our family room with a new rug, drapes, and accessories. Before I would even allow myself to dive into that, I spent 15 minutes each day this week decluttering in that room and from around the house. I am trying very hard to live by the "one item coming in means one item coming out" -- or even to best it with a 1 to 3 ratio. Now the Jeep is full and ready for an errand run to the donation center today, and I can enjoy some sprucing-up time with the new decor goodies this weekend. Cheers, and enjoy your visit with your mum!

❣️Hi, Diane, thank you so much for this 'volunteer' reminder...🙄. I always not only volunteer, but even overdo what I’m asked to do🤷♀️. Unfortunately I missed the whole week, because I was so sick...and there was an event I had to do crisis cleaning for🤦♀️, almost all fine again, so I can go to the big family party today. I promised a cake and wanted to make something (fancy and extra) special (as usual). But I remembered your old videos about crisis cleaning and Swedish fish wife's cake and did this. Nothing fancy, but sooo tasty. And time to rest and decorate nicely before I start. And time for hygge to see this video😉... I don’t use the word pamper very much either, here in Germany the most popular baby diapers are named PAMPERS and it’s a funny feeling for me to use this word for me👶🏻... Have a good weekend and as promised I will put away the 'mixed baskets' after crisis cleaning😉, love, Monika❣️

Hi, I'm due to have my first baby in 4 weeks. I have been doing flylady for years. My lovely mum would like to come and help. How do I explain how I organise my house? Mum isn't very tidy, and can go overboard on shopping with a lot of waste. Or will put things away in my house where she thinks they should be rather than where I've had them. Is it rude to explain how my house runs? I feel like it might seem ungrateful. Essentially, can you do a video on how to accept help? Thanks from Australia.
@DianeinDenmark5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashley! I talk about family a lot in my Q & A videos (I'll link to the playlist). You may find it helpful to "direct" your Mum to what you would like her to help with. Point out a couple of zone chores/Weekly Home Blessing Hour list from your Control Journal, or ask her to do some ironing, make a meal, for example. kzbin.info/aero/PLxIYCyTLBED9fh1uPZwhq68Lx3pEXuPRm

Hey Diane. I’ve been enjoying your back to basics series. Even though we are similar age, I’m still struggling with my routines etc. I flip flop from one system to another and beat myself up if things are not done perfectly. I think I maybe a Type 4/2 in the DYT system but am not 100% sure - which I’ve been looking into lately after watching your videos. My question is - I have a big family still at home and find I need to do more each day to keep my space tidy - like vacuuming the floors nearly every day and picking up more. There seems to be a lot more dishes than others have and I get overwhelmed. Do you have any suggestions where to start. Fun fact - I’ve met a couple of ladies through the DYT Facebook in my area I was so excited we got together for lunch the other day and one of the ladies Robyn is a cousin of your friend Kathryn I think. Love from Sandy in NZ.
